Editing articles about yourself[edit]

Information icon Hello, Gead1979. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

March 2022[edit]

Hello, I'm Andethyst. I noticed that in this edit to Glenn Diesen, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Andethyst (talk) 01:10, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of the other editor is not to write a "biography" but to advance a smear campaign against an academic. Stop posting factual nonsense about Diesen supporting a war and then deleting the citations of newspaper articles by those who oppose the demonisation and defamation of professor Diesen Gead1979 (talk) 09:10, 21 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Glenn Diesen, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you would like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Andethyst (talk) 01:11, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The biography is part of a deliberate effort to smear, censor and harass an academic. Diesen is not a journalist for Russian state media, he is a professor who has written many books and participate in media in most the major countries in the world. Any effort to modify and add correct content is deleted. Gead1979 (talk) 08:51, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Glenn Diesen, you may be blocked from editing. You have been told not to edit the article about yourself, and that political scientist is a more meaningful primary descriptor than "professor" which is very vague in English. Please discuss any proposed changes on the talk page. PetterLøkd (talk) 16:16, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop disruptive editing and deleting content. This is libel. False information to smear an academic and deleting any additional information to provide any nuance. Gead1979 (talk) 18:14, 19 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please stop disruptive editing and deleting content. Wikipedia is not for smearing but informing Gead1979 (talk) 08:15, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page, as you did at Aage Borchgrevink. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
