copyright issues[edit]

Hey. There is in fact a procedure for adding copyrighted text, although a rewrite is always easier. See wp:IOWN. Or try here: Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Simply re-adding the text over and over is just going to annoy everyone. Someone will also inevitibly send you to this link as well: wp:COI. Cheers. You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for violating copyright policy by copying text into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission, despite having been previously warned that this is against policy. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to quote non-free text. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. – Toon 16:48, 16 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|I understood the copyright concerns that wikipedia had for the page [Returned: Child Soldiers of Nepal's Maoist Army], I used portions of the synopsis from a web page that has a Creative Commons Public Licence (Attribution) and explicitly allows the content of the page to be used on other websites as long as the page is referenced (http://nepaldocumentary.com/TheFilm.aspx), which I did. I would be happy to correct my errors in the usage of that content. Please let me know if there is something specific that I am missing to be in full compliance, I am more than willing to learn from my mistakes. - Genghis2k3}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

It appears that I missed the CC-By release at the bottom of the page; I hope that you will accept my unreserved apologies for the block, which was evidently unwarranted. Regards, – Toon 16:17, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Think I found the autoblock. If this is not the case, please follow Tnxman307's request below. Syrthiss (talk) 18:40, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My guess is that your autoblock is still active. To fix it, we'll need the message that appears when you try to edit. The best idea is to repost your unblock request using {{unblock-auto}}. TNXMan 18:31, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Robert Koenig hi res.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Robert Koenig hi res.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:16, 27 April 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 01:16, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Returned movie poster Robert Koenig DDOCT08.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Returned movie poster Robert Koenig DDOCT08.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. XXN, 13:23, 10 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
