Current events: December 22: Russian advances
[edit]Dear @Gerald1984: like others, I have a problem with the information you are trying to add to the Current events page, but unlike them, I will take the time to explain my position here on your talk page rather than in the few words of an edit summary.
I closely examined the referenced article that you have been adding. I located claims of specific locations where advances were "attempted" and "repelled," but found little in the way of advances concretely being "made." Below I'll share the two claims I found that are most generous to the Russian advances. If I have missed something, please let me know by replying and I will reconsider the revert.
1. "The Russians are attacking the forest near Lyman Pershyi, have achieved partial success"
2. "A few days ago they had a small advance. It was not critical, they did not reach the village itself, although they managed to repel several forest plantations. But it's too early to say that they are starting to regain control of Robotyne"
Though these are certainly advances of some sort, such events as described in the article are certainly not notable events. It is not sufficient for Portal:Current events to simply report "Russians making advances in x sector." The question becomes: what advances, where? If it can be reliably demonstrated that a significant settlement has changed hands, then this will easily be notable enough to warrant inclusion. But this MSN article fails to describe such advances.

- @SaintPaulOfTarsus - it all takes someone to explain these things in detail without going through all the excuses like NPOV (like how without going into any detail), it is not specific (please explain why it is not specific). You might say it is not notable, but I can say to you in the scheme of all things it is notable. If going by your argument that a settlement has change hands, then I can say to you make at least a valid argument there. There are too many editors out there removing things without going into detail reasons and doing so arbitrary. Hope that explains my reasons I keep readding the entry as to challenge these editors to explain themselves and their actions. Also best wishes and Merry Christmas. 15:25, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
