US Navy[edit]

Hello, I saw your edit, saw it was removed, and also saw your message on Trappist the monk's (Ttm) talk page. I realize that it sucks to put in so much effort into an article only to have it undone with a single click, but I agree with the removal. As he said, we already have a list of US Navy ships (several actually... too many, I'd like to see more of them removed, but anyway), and that list serves as the 'master list' of current ships. When you're new (and even when you're not), and if you're considering a major effort like that, it's sometimes better to first post a comment on the article talk page stating your intentions, to gauge reaction, see if there is a need for the effort, and/or a consensus in support of it. A quick comment like that would've saved you a lot of work down the drain.

Also, the article talk page would've been the more appropriate page to post your response then Ttm's user talk page. That way, it gives other interested parties an opportunity to take part, and either way, there is a record regarding the edit, and response, in the article's history. I would suggest starting with smaller edits, (walk before you run, and all that), and if you have questions, check out the Help Desk and/or the Teahouse, both linked above.
