Speedy deletion nomination of Glenn Madden
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Glenn Madden requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — Fιηεmαηη [talk] 21:25, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not write an article about yourself, as you did at Glenn Madden. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged - see our guideline Writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedians with articles.) Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. — Fιηεmαηη [talk] 21:25, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Articles about yourself
[edit]You have previously been asked not to create articles about yourself. Equine-man (talk) 12:59, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I created this in the sandbox ... I had no intention of trying to publish it. If you published the sandbox which I was using as tests for writing then do not blame me. GlennMadden (talk) 13:28, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I thought that was what the sandbox was for??? GlennMadden (talk) 13:28, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because... (this page should be deleted ... that is what I was trying to do. Then I get your rude notices.) --GlennMadden (talk) 13:32, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
Userpages
[edit]Hi! I saw that you were a bit confused as to why the page was nominated for deletion and then why your userpage was nominated.
The reasons for the article all boils down to notability, as all articles need to be able to establish how the topic (in this case yourself) is notable per Wikipedia's guidelines. It's pretty difficult to establish this and there are a lot of people who are well known and/or successful, yet fail notability on here. It's also not recommended to create an article for yourself on Wikipedia, as it's easy to get attached to the page and write about yourself in a non-neutral point of view.
As far as the userpage goes, the userpage is only supposed to contain information about yourself as it pertains to editing Wikipedia. You can add some things about your hobbies and interests, but in very limited detail. The page isn't meant to be used in the way that you'd use say, a social media profile. This section covers what should be in a profile, while this section covers what shouldn't. As far as it being a test space, that's true to a certain extent but you're still expected to avoid self-promotion and follow general editing guidelines. While you meant well, the general guideline is to only have limited personal information.
Since you're new to all of this, I recommend taking this training on Wikipedia editing. While this was written for students editing in lieu of a traditional college assignment, the guidelines and policies covered are ones that any new editor will need to know.
