Units of Measurement

Continuing this discussion from the Mississippi River page, while I agree it would be nice to have the simplicity and uniformity of a single system, the truth is that the vast majority of US natives and many from the UK use Imperial units and find SI confusing. If I were editing in the FR Wikipedia, I would argue strongly against including Imperial units, but our main goal here is to serve readers, and as this is the EN version of Wikipedia I support using language and units that are most familiar to EN speakers. —Papayoung ☯ 14:35, 13 October 2005 (UTC)

No worries. I've only been editing seriously for a few weeks, but I have learned how quickly my personal biases come to light when I engage in collaborative editing. I actually learn a lot about myself, doing this. And it was interesting to learn that it's been worked though (of course) long before now and is already a policy. Hi Gloumouth,
I'm pretty sure that it was OK to take photos, as our tour lady didn't stop me or other people taking photos of the impressive sculpture. I'm no lawyer, and I'm not sure if it is OK to license it the way I did, but I'm sure others will be able to find out. Your "descente infinie" sound file

I downloaded this file—you did create this (DescenteInfinie.ogg), didn't you?—and found it quite intriguing and entrancing.

As soon as I listened to it, I realized I wanted something more: a sound like this that could play continuously, arbitrarily long. So I'm wondering, do you see any way of doing that? Say by creating a MIDI loop or something?

Alternatively, if you could produce a sound file that could be seamlessly looped, where the end would mesh perfectly with the beginning, I could play it looped with a media player.

Thanks for your note. Even though you lost the source code (sorry to hear that; bummer), since you have the equations, couldn't it be reconstructed?
