Activism: "Advocacy Correction"

[edit]

Advocacy is standing up in solidarity to act on behalf of the silent groups. Activists stepped up to campaign against systemic oppression, domination, patriarchy, and so forth. They aimed at bringing social changes in the society. They are people who toiled day and night to open the eyes of the sleeping and marginalized persons. Activists are passionate of bringing positive change at all costs. They are risk takers with goals and mission. They approached issues with fairness. They are liberal minds who fear not to take the bull by its horns. They offer selfless services to create the atmosphere that recognizes respect for everyone (elders and young ones),  division of responsibilities, democracy, and justice for all. Their voluntary work is after rebuking what is not right for societal upkeep. Areas of dvocacy may include, and not limited to political activism, cultural activism, environmental activism, religious activism, feminist activism, black rights activism, human rights activism, anti-poverty activism, and so on. In religious activism, the activists demand clean faith services, not hate but activists narrowed them to their career of serving God, to discourage them from interfering in certain fields against their ordained goals. It is all about being goal-oriented to pursue the mission that one is passionate to fulfill. We have many religions like Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Daoism, Sikhism, Traditional religions, Paganism, and selectivity is recommended. The faith groups differed, and that is why one should be exemplary, and charismatic in his/her choice to avoid victimization. Feminist campaigns will also demand changes in policies, systems and cultural hierarchies that constantly put women down. They (feminists) are after eliminating partriarchy, and male domination in the societies. They are not stressed women as some may think, but seeking their recognition in decision making regarding the societal affairs. There is no community without a woman. We (men and women) make the society, and that is why feminists want their voices heard, and not discarded as not worth. Activism is supposed to be received with pure hearts, and settled minds to wisely screen out the ideas that are not making sense, and applaud the good ones. That is humanity!! Cultural activists are sometimes given names like primitives by the cultural critiques. Once we claim to be what we think of ourselves, we cannot run away from the fact that we are all from diverse backgrounds. This is the reason why i am called South Sudanese, Dinka/Jieeng, Bor, Abii, and at least from Panuet (Anuet's descendant). Those are my identities regardless of visiting Uganda, Kenya, and name them. Though i visited those places to get the so called EDUCATION from those foreign places, my identity is to be intact because it makes different. Cultural comeback via activism does not guarantee me stupidity when we get into lecture or exam rooms. It is my chose one interest among many ambitions to pursue. It is all about taking pride in my origin and keeping cultural heritage preserved for future generations. Third, the environmentalists chose the field because they felt that something is not right. Many challenges may be attached to unplanned cutting down of trees. The problems foreseen by the environmentalists are not exactly their family problems, but ours. We cut down trees, and climate change knocks the door, which later affect us all. It is specified professionalism that differentiates Engineers, Lawyers and Doctors, but all are equal. Activists act tobring environmental changes to make sure we are living in the safe and conducive environment. That is the same case to political activists!!

In conclusion, this piece is simply about the people who think negative about advocates/activists. The activists are not stressed, traumatized, and depressed as one may think. In fact, they are the less stressed humans on earth. This is because they got into the profe of activism while aware of the underlying challenges.  It is a field that cowards and indecisive person Gorbek87 (talk) 20:22, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Anuet village

[edit]

Hi Gorbek87! Really great to see more detail added on Abii. I've moved the discussion of Anuet under a new heading on the Kolnyang page, and started a section about it on the talk page. It would be really great to see the section header changed and some more history added there. I was simply unable to find many secondary sources beyond news reports about the name dispute. It would be really helpful to update the list of bomas with a source newer than the old census. Mr leroy playpus (talk) 07:45, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gorbek87! Apologies, I reverted a change to a sentence in Kolnyang under Anuet. This was because the sources gave Panwel/Paneel as the name at the time of the dispute. ("The clashes erupted again over ownership of grazing land and the naming of a village – one clan wants its name Panweel retained while another group is seeking to have it renamed to Anuet."[1]) The article needs to follow the secondary sources. To say that the village was "historically known as Anuet," we'll need a source that says that. I don't have any stake in what the village's name was before, and wouldn't be surprise by a mistake in the tamazuj article, but the UNDP maps give Panwel/Panweel, and neither name is present on the 1:250,000 series maps (Sheet 78-F, Anglo-Egyptian Sudan : Bor (Upper Nile Province)[2]).
