October 2016[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Group A HPL", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies the account is shared by multiple people. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing this form, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. Request reason:

This is a group project for the University of California, San Francisco Masters of Science in Health Policy and Law Program. We are assigned "groups" to work with to complete a task. Our assignment is to edit a wiki page to include research relevant to a topic of our choice. We need to have this page unblocked in order to submit our assignment that is due tonight by 11:55pm PST Group A HPL (talk) 23:51, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

As explained below, Wikipedia does not allow group accounts and does not allow accounts with group or role names. You should explain to your project leader that arranging accounts in groups like this is not permitted, and that each individual student must have their own individual account that is not used by anyone else. The only way this account could be unblocked is if you request a rename (as explained in the block message) and assure us that only one person will use it. I should add that I don't see any other similarly named groups (no User:Group B HPL or User:Group C HPL, for example), but if there are other group accounts like this one, you should alert them to the problem too. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hello Group A HPL, there are two reasons why your un-block request is going to be denied,

Your best bet is to do as the block template suggest and have this account re-named or you can create a new account that represents an individual. Good luck, - Mlpearc (open channel) 00:02, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There are also User:HPL Group D and User:HPL Group B both blocked. Theroadislong (talk) 08:17, 9 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
