Thanks for your article on The Dome, Edinburgh. Its a fantastic building and worthy of a detailed article, but I think its let down by focussing too much on the social aspect of architectural theory. I am slightly confused by your reading of Glendinning et al. "capitalist-led social and economic transformation" as "socialism", I don't think this is what is intended by the authors. The Commercial Bank HQ would not have served "the community as a whole", which in the Victorian era was deeply divided economically. Although not just for the traditional landed elite, the bank served the new middle-class elite. This building was not designed for those living ten to a room in the dilapidated Old Town, for example. Your claim that the building "captures the most important elements comprising Scottish Society" is also a bit off the mark in my opinion, for the same reasons. I wonder if you have any further sources for this reading of the architecture? Please dont take my carping the wrong way - I am only trying to improve content, not scare off contributors. It's very refreshing to find someone engaging with more theoretical matters, rather than just "The Dome is a nightclub, some celebrity once visited there..." type articles!
