Conflict of interest/reliable sources

[edit]

Based upon a questionable edit to an article I watch, I decided to look at your other contributions. It appears that almost all of your edits have been done solely to link to the same website across multiple articles. Before editing Wikipedia again, please make sure you read and follow the following rules:

  • WP:RS -- Citations to provide sources to back up claims in articles must be reliable sources. The finding dulcinea site you linked to does not appear to qualify, as it looks like nothing more than a blog with individual contributors of no greater value than personal websites.
  • WP:COI -- Based upon your edits to the page about the company behind that website as well as all the links to that website, it would appear that you are in some way affiliated with that site. Adding links to a site you are involved with is highly questionable at best, if not outright spam. If you believe that a link to that site would be valuable on a specific topic, please follow the conflict of interest rules and do not add the link yourself. You can suggest adding the link on the talk page, and if an editor there believes it is genuinely useful they will add it for you.

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --SmashvilleBONK! 18:36, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read and follow the policies you were already referred to

[edit]

I see from a comment on Ronz's talk page, where you posted: "Myself and about two other people at findingDulcinea post the occasional findingDulcinea link but only because we are avid Wikipedia users outside of our worklife and often find pages that could use a well-rounded view of the topic at hand." that you admit to being employed by the company and linking to yourself. Regardless of whether you had good intentions or not, this is a clear violation of our policies on conflict of interest and spam. You've been warned multiple times, and you have had every opportunity to read and follow our policies. To continue to add links to promote your own site can get the site added to the Wikipedia blacklist, so that even if someone unaffiliated with your company were to find an article they thought would be good to link to they would be not allowed to either, because of a site-wide block on the domain. Please do not let it get to this, and stop (and tell your coworkers to stop) linking to yourself. DreamGuy (talk) 19:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
