March 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm IagoQnsi. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Have I Been Pwned?, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hi there. Yes we are the real owners of the http://www.haveibeenpwned.org web site and not the absolute disgrace of a user called genzparez. We recently came to find out he had been changing the Wiki page addresses to reflect ours rather than the official .com version. We would like to say he is in no way anything to do with us and we are disgusted by his actions. Regarding a source for the dispute over the "Have I been pwned?" brand/name and copyright application, we are the source. It has come direct from us or direct from the horses mouth so to speak as myself and my friend made the application earlier today. However we have since been in talks with Troy Hunt as he is a reasonable man and wants to sort out this dispute so that portion of text can stay archived because we are hoping to sort this out. I would like to point out that Troy himself may well be in touch with you in regards to the HIBP official Wikipedia page to find out how our site can be added to the page as being one fully endorsed by Troy though we're not sure which part of the page this would come under? If you could advise us on this that would be great. Again please accept our sincere apologies for whatever this other user has done, certainly not the actions of a decent person. 22:17, 20 March 16 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Hibporg. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 23:38, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
