User talk:I Hate The Word Fictional

I can see why you dislike the word "fictional", but we use it for a couple of reasons.

  • Readers for whom English is a second language need an upfront clue that an article is not about something or someone real.
  • Without the word "fictional", new editors like to come along and add vast amounts of detail, never with a source, about the fictional thing, and use language that makes that thing look real. See my point above for another reason this is bad.

As I say, I can see your issue, but leaving the word in place saves a lot of work and confusion all round. Please reconsider any campaign to remove the word. Thanks. — Trey Maturin 16:39, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Plese stop. The word fictional is required to mark fictional characters or fictional events as such. Therefore, the word fictional should not be removed. You might get blocked for vandalism if you continue to remove the word fictional from fictional events or fictional charaters. Gial Ackbar (talk) 21:35, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
