Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Ideadirect, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Tricentis, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hello,
Yes, I recently started work at Tricentis and there were numerous errors on the page which I tried to correct. For instance, may of the locations were outdated and our headquarters was incorrect.
I also noted the warning and can confirm that this was not from an undisclosed paid source. However, in going through the wording, I did agree that it felt very promotional. I tried to remove what seemed overly promotional. All I was trying to do was create an objective and accurate page.
Can you help with this? Could you or someone copy the changes to a draft page for review? Thanks for your patience. I actually quite enjoy this.

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

Obviously your user name is a violation, since it's the name of your PR company, and there's a few other things that I'll keep private. COI editors must lay their cards on the table. Drmies (talk) 13:51, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is not accurate. I'm happy to change my user ID. As you can see I only practiced on editing a few times. I work at Tricentis. Here is my LinkedIn profile if you are curious.

Yeah, I use the UserID: IdeaDirect for many things but I no longer run an agency and even when I did, we did not do anything with PR or Wiki. Happy to change it.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I'm happy to change my user id and to also note that I work at Tricentis on my user page.
If you take a quick look at the changes I made, I truly feel I was making the page less promotional. I took off things like bragging about clients and overt adjectives.
Here is all that happened... I joined Tricentis a few months ago and was annoyed at some of the inaccuracies of our page and thought I would give editing a try. I really am trying to stay in the spirit of wiki. Ideadirect (talk) 14:07, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Right now you need to address the bigger issue indicated in this template. Drmies (talk) 13:59, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think you mean the unblock process...

Request reason:

I have read and understand terms of use and paid editing disclosure requirements. I am employed by Tricentis and not compensated to edit wiki and will disclose my employer on user page. I will add objective facts to our Tricentis page and help contribute to other interesting topics. I am fine with changing my user ID if necessary or even taking down my old website. Ideadirect (talk) 14:17, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

If you work for Tricentis, you are a paid editor, you do not have to be specifically paid to edit(otherwise every paid editor would deny being specifically paid for it). The article is not your "page" but a Wikipedia article about your company. Please read WP:COI and tell us how your future edits will be consistent with that policy(hint). You say you want to edit about other topics, please tell us what those might be, as you will need to (once unblocked) demonstrate your understanding of Wikipedia content guidelines and policies before being permitted to contribute about your company. What you do with your old website is your business, but you will need to propose a new username to us. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 09:12, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I even disabled my old ideadirect.com website and can fully delete if necessary.

Request reason:

I do appreciate the guidance. I misunderstood and did not associate working at a company and updating our company page as being paid editing. I did read the terms prior but just misunderstood. I do get it now. All I was trying to do was make the page less promotional and corrected a few facts. But I do feel I was wrongly accused of using my old agency as if Tricentis was a client of mine.
- I understand that I should clearly indicate my employer, Tricentis on my user page which I will do once able.
- I am happy to change my username. The terms recommended not using my personal name but maybe something like 'dgiacom168'
- As for other topics, I thought editing was a benefit to Wiki and thought I could help. I was thinking about topics that I share personal interests in such as Taiwan, dogs, photography. But to be candid, I'm nervous about contributing now.
- For future edits specific to Tricentis, I will adhere to the edit request process which now makes sense.
Sorry for taking your time basically because I didn't understand the terms well enough. If I remain blocked, I understand and will just move on and away from Wiki. Thanks. Ideadirect (talk) 01:46, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I am closing this request as stale only. If you still wish to be unblocked, you may make a new request. 331dot (talk) 12:58, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
