File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Winphonemarketplace.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Winphonemarketplace.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 20:22, 23 May 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Theleftorium (talk) 20:22, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:IEMobileWP7.jpg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:IEMobileWP7.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

File source problem with File:IEMobileWP7.jpg[edit]

Copyright-problem.svg

Thank you for uploading File:IEMobileWP7.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 21:21, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

Your recent edits[edit]

Information.svg Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button Insert-signature.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 00:43, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Better source request for File:WindowsCE7.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:WindowsCE7.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Fleet Command (talk) 13:47, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:WP7logo.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:WP7logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

PLEASE NOTE:

  • I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
  • I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
  • If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click here to file an un-delete request.
  • To opt out of these bot messages, add {{bots|deny=DASHBot}} to your talk page.
  • If you believe the bot has made an error, please turn it off here and leave a message on my owner's talk page.

License tagging for File:Metro UI.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Metro UI.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:08, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank You[edit]

I'd like to thank you for your help and dedication on the Windows Phone 7 page. It was a horrible mess, and I don't think some of the editors were going to be swayed to allow for improvement by me alone (as was basically the case when I worked on the KIN page). I think the page still needs a lot of work, and when the OS comes out, we could be right back where we started, but for now, I think the page is presentable, and it wouldn't have been possible without editors like you working on the page. CaptainStack (talk) 00:03, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

I still think some people will complain about some parts, but its all about making the article have a neutral point of viewing and being fair, relative to the Apple iOS and Google Android articles. --Interframe (talk) 00:24, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Ringtones[edit]

Someone else restored the ringtone sentence on the Windows Phone 7 article, but Windows Mobile did allow custom ringtones to be installed (Google Search). No need to reply to this message, unless the point is still in dispute. Cheers, Lester 01:11, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:8196 sinofsky.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:8196 sinofsky.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 03:51, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Windows Phone 8[edit]

Hi.

Regarding your recent edit to Template:Microsoft Windows family, you should know that we have already had discussions that claimed Windows Phone 8 is an edition of Windows 8 or, like your recent edit, it is a desktop OS and part of Windows NT family. Such allegations always have failed to satisfy the participants of the discussion and never achieved any consensus. In addition, such a claim in navbox needs reference-supported mention in all relevant articles.

If you wish to reinstate your edit, I advise you to put it to discussion first and be prepared to produce very reliable sources.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 19:16, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
