- Hello, I venture to disagree with your statement: ‘appearing to not be constructive’ as categorically false. Being a relative of Jacob Gould Schurman, I have the right to include notable family members and accomplishments; all of which are not explicit or in violation of any terms of service your platform lists. I was under the impression that Wikepedia was meant for contributions by the community and to deny my inclusion while turning a blind eye to racist, sexist, and homophobic edits to articles is wrong in every way. Can you please explain how my life is not worthy of inclusion in this article? JacobSchurman (talk) 01:32, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- First of all, we do not turn a blind eye to racist, sexist, or homophobic edits. When good editors find those, they get deleted. Like I literally just reverted some racist edits a couple hours ago. Second, this article is about Jacob Gould Schurman, not his relatives. Statements about relatives should be very brief. Only notable relatives should be mentioned, like those who have their own Wikipedia article. You wiki-linked your own name in the article, which suggests that you believe there should be an article about you. Based on the things you said you are notable for, you do not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines (see Wikipedia:Notability). In addition, contributing information about yourself (or your relatives) to Wikipedia is highly discouraged (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest). Gottagotospace (talk) 02:55, 26 May 2024 (UTC)
- I am at a loss for words. Can you expand on how my contribution to one of the most storied newspapers in North America is not noteworthy? Can you also provide me reasoning why including a football victory, a pivotal moment in my life, is not noteworthy, but nearly 7 paragraphs on Adolf Hitler’s health is? Mind you, I attempted to link the article and was denied. I’m sure you can locate this denial because it seems like you have complete control over this website. Also, please find in your terms and service the finite definition of ‘brief’ and get back to me. Let’s also highlight the term ‘highly discouraged’ being that is not cause for denial, rather a suggestion. While you are on this I ask you find how my edits are harmful, hateful, or defamatory to anyone including Jacob Gould Schurman. Finally, please explain how I do not meet the Wikipedia guidelines for notability when I am met with this hostility for trying to explain my accomplishments. I honestly could not care less if I am excluded from this, but now I am asking myself why you are using your time to argue with me over clearly subjective guidelines and not focusing on removing all these sexiest, racist, and homophobic entries that you ‘literally’ just mentioned. - It is also 11pm where I live, but as a patriot I will forgo sleep to fight for what I believe is right. If John Snowden saw this he would be appalled. I also see you chose to not elaborate on any of my questions and rather linked an article that I am sure you have, and never will read. Do better and be better Wikipedia admin.
