Pambar River[edit]

Hello and thank you for creating Pambar River. Please can you now fix the resulting mis-directed links? This is difficult for a non-expert to do, as the topics are similar. Thanks, Certes (talk) 16:37, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

-- Only the “Rivers of Tamil Nadu” page needs to refer to the individual rivers. All other items refer to the River of Kerala only as it is the better known one. Is there a way to change all those references at one go? Thanks! Jamadagni (talk) 17:05, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done. Thanks for fixing List of rivers of Tamil Nadu. Certes (talk) 17:41, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, Manimuthar River (tributary of Pambar), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Jamadagni. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Manimuthar River".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 09:16, 3 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Vector map of Ganga/Brahmaputra[edit]

Oh, that was almost ten years ago. I searched around and found that I made it on a computer I no longer have. I should have a backup on an old CD-R or DVD-R, but have no way to read those discs right now. I plan to someday buy an optical disc reader, but no idea when that'll happen. I got the river data from Natural Earth's large-scale physical vectors, here: http://www.naturalearthdata.com/downloads/10m-physical-vectors (which is free and has a Wikipedia-friendly license). To read/convert the data I used an educational version of ArcExplorer that I think is no longer available, but it shouldn't be too hard to do with QGIS, an open source free GIS program, and really good, if a bit complicated (though learning how to just read/convert shapefiles shouldn't take long). I probably made a basic, ugly, raw map in ArcExplorer, exported as a raster image, loaded into Illustrator, and traced the rivers in Illustrator to clean things up, probably making some minor changes/additions based on other references, and finalized everything in Photoshop. I don't even have Illustrator or Photoshop these days, so probably couldn't open the files even if I had access to them.

Sorry! Still, the Natural Earth datasets are available in several formats. I used the shapefile format (SHP), which should work in various programs; certainly any GIS software (I think "ArcGIS Explorer Desktop" might be free), QGIS, TNTatlas, Google Earth, some CAD software, and various other tools. There are also various free "GIS Data Viewers" that might be useful. Plus there are tools to convert shapefiles to KML and other formats. I'm quite rusty on all this and not exactly sure what the easiest approach is these days. Hope that helps and sorry I couldn't do more. Pfly (talk) 07:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for November 28[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Manimuthar River, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Salem. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:58, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
