Note on sources

[edit]

Hello. To respond to some of the questions you left at Wikipedia:Help desk, you may find Wikipedia:Conflict of interest (specifically WP:SELFCITE) helpful. This is not intended to be an accusation, merely a note on something you should be aware of. You may also want to take a look at Help:Referencing for beginners. Thanks, and happy editing. Disputed mass-addition of reference

[edit]

Hello Jason.Jay7, as mentioned above please read and follow the advice at WP:SELFCITE (technically the publication is your professor's work as you mentioned on the help desk, but this advice is still somewhat relevant for "conflict of interest" situations in general). I'll summarize my concerns briefly: with such a close connection to the author you shouldn't mass-add such references to multiple articles. Secondly, the added content consists of mere announcements and secondary details - nothing in them provides substantial content for the articles' central topics. Thirdly, the added content clearly promotes the author's activities and opinions as described at http://spearitualwritings.com/ (apparently the author's main website to popularize his viewpoints). Advocacy - including undue coverage - for all external viewpoints and activities is prohibited on Wikipedia..

Due to these concerns I have removed most of the disputed edits (except in American Bar Association, where the edit seems to provide substantial and directly relevant information). Please stop adding this reference yourself, and suggest future possibly controversial additions on the articles' respective talkpages. Thank you for your consideration. Please feel free to ask if you have any further questions. GermanJoe (talk) 22:57, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
