A tag has been placed on Iitjobs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Because there was a clear consensus to do so here. If you believe that I am mistaken in my belief that there was a clear consensus there, you can take it up at deletion review; I have to warn you, though, that my decision is nearly certain to be upheld there. As to whether I looked at the site before deleting it, I did not. My sole role was to close the AfD, which means to determine what consensus had to say on the subject. - I think you misunderstood the reasons given for deletion. Nobody said it should be deleted because the I stood for "India"; all User:DMacks was doing was clarifying that it was Iitjobs, and not litjobs (correcting User:Utgard Loki who seemed to think that the first character was an L). The reasons given for deletion were all related to notability. According to Wikipedia's notability guideline, notability is demonstrated via significant coverage from reliable sources independent of the subject, of which there didn't appear to be any for this site. Finally, as for Naukri.com, it doesn't look notable to me and I doubt it would survive a deletion debate. I hope this helps clarify things. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:06, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
- No. The first two links are to press releases, which means they're not independent of the subject. The third is independent of the subject, but hardly constitutes "substantial coverage". As for the other points you claim, we determine notability on the basis of coverage from reliable third party sources. If being the world's first international IT job site was so notable, wouldn't newspapers and magazines have written about it?
- Anyway, this debate is moot, because I have no authority to overturn the consensus of the deletion discussion. If you believe that there was no consensus, you have to go to WP:DRV. If you can find substantial coverage by reliable third party sources, you can re-create the article with those sources included. Otherwise, you have to live with the fact that it's deleted.
