Name of Ron Larson's father

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! I wish to apologize for having been too quick to revert your changes to Ron Larson for looking like likely vandalism. While asking the subject of the article for the name of their father may be a very good way to find out the name, this is original research, so if you change such information you should in general also add a reliable source and/or explain your reason in the edit summary in order to make your edit verifiable. There were already two sources in the paragraph in question, but both dead. I now managed to recover both from archived versions, and while the obituary indeed uses "Mederith", the list of Silver Star recipients only lists a "Larson, Meredith J.", but no "Mederith". So we have two Conflicting sources, and as your edit conforms to the more recent one, I let it stand but added a footnote pointing out that some sources use the other spelling. Ron called me himself and asked me to fix. I will take him as a reliable source. Your conflicting source is wrong. A common problem with this unique spelling. So, If I need to update this page so the information is correct ... I need to funnel it thru you? I updated the awards list and now it's gone. How does one get this update done? With removal of awards updated and now questioning sources ... does this not apply?

Hi, thanks for your reply. You said in your summary that you are an employee of the subject of the article, so you do have a conflict of interest as defined above. You are welcome to request changes on the article's Talk page. It is helpful if you can supply references there for suggested changes. The main problem with the list of awards was the lack of references supplied. You definitely don't need to funnel things through me, just through uninvolved editors in general. the awards were listed just as the one's dating 2015 and before. Who are the uninvolved editors and where does one find them? Are you an employee of WIKI? No, I'm a volunteer editor, not a Wikipedia employee. You can request changes on the article's Talk page; it's very helpful to have a reference from an independent source (such as a newspaper) supporting the awards if you have one.
