[edit]Omg, you're totally right, I must admit that was a major blunder on my part and I totally overreacted and reacted much too quickly. For what it is worth I am embarrassed and do apologize, you didn't deserve that response at all and it should of been directed at the said person, I saw your last edit and reacted due to frustration because it was the most hateful message I've received on here. Again, I do apologize, this message had no business whatsoever making it to your user talk. - Sorry. Feel free to delete this message after you read it.. Taharqa 15:51, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you, so much for that, Taharqa. I would like to leave this message to show that you can be civil. :) - Jeeny Talk 15:53, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
OK, so that change was a joke... but have you eaten one of those things? I have, and that's why I put that in there. They taste awful.
I will note, also, that there is no formal reference for their tasting like a mix of cucumber and kiwifruit either, so lawn clippings and salmon eggs are equally valid for comparison, unless you can prove otherwise!

- Yea but that's still POV - which is not allowed...Sabergirl08 14:35, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, like Sabergirl said, it's POV. There has to be realiable source to back it. I have tasted them, BTW, and I don't think adding anything to them would make them taste better, but that's MY POV. Anyway, I'd rather eat grass clippings. <yuk> :) - Jeeny Talk 14:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Jeeny, if you're not a fan of horned melons, how come you're overseeing the editing on the page? Did you volunteer and get randomly assigned to it? --K
- When checking the random article link one day, that artcle came up, and I fixed the images to make the page look better. I have my preferenced set to add pages I edit to my watchlist. So, that's why I noticed the edits you made. But, because I'm "not a fan" I had taken it off my list before you commented to me about it today. That's all. - Jeeny Talk 15:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Guru of graphics
[edit]Jeeny, I hope things are going well for you. I was wondering if you could clean up some more images for me. I have made a first pass at writing the Joseph Priestley page (unfortunately, it is much too long and needs to be drastically cut). I think that I have finally decided on which images I want, but some of them are a bit "off" - they have extraneous frames or off-center. If you could fix any of those things, I would greatly appreciate it. You will see which ones I am talking about immediately. Again, anything that I can do to help you out in return, let me know. Your user page
[edit]Hi Jeeny, What's happened to all the bio stuff on your user page. I went to it today, and was surprised by its disappearance. Anyway, each to his/her own taste, as Saint Julia Child used to say. Bellagio99 20:30, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- Jeeny, Got your response. I understand why you cut back on the self-discussions, which had me worried about others bothering you. Bellagio99 21:27, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
Jeeny, could you work your graphics magic on the title page to The Age of Reason on The Age of Reason article? There is some extra white space on the right side of the image. I would greatly appreciate it. Please let me know what I can do in return for all of your great work on these images! Awadewit | talk 20:31, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Done! :) I did both. - Jeeny Talk 20:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you so much! I really need to learn how to do this myself. I have GIMP - do you know how to do it using that software? Is it possible to explain it to me quickly? Awadewit | talk 22:38, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome! I have no idea about GIMP, sorry. There is a free download of a simple program, that can crop, rotate, resize and change formats. It is very good for those with limited experience. I learned my graphics LONG ago, and used math! such as XY coordinates to create images. I forget all that now, though. Heck, I can't even use PhotoShop. But, I'm so used to the program I do have, PaintShopPro, (it's a bit less sophisticated than PhotoShop, and less expensive) and don't have the need nor the desire to learn any other programs. lol. Oops, here's the link to the free download; It's called IrfanView. - Jeeny Talk 22:54, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have PaintShopPro, too. Is that easier to use? Awadewit | talk 08:01, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
- On a side note, do you think you could recrop [[Image:OriginalStoriesTitle.png]]. You did a nice job of removing the excess space, but you also accidentally removed the title. Thanks. (I've reverted the image for now.) Awadewit | talk 08:01, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm slowly learning
[edit]I have figured out how to crop a bunch of different ways now, but I still haven't figured out how to rotate images so that they aren't crooked. Until I figure that out, would you mind righting my askew image in The History of the Fairchild Family? I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Awadewit | talk 10:35, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you have the same tools as mine. Use "Ctrl R", then a box appears where you type in the degrees to rotate, click the dot for "free", then type a 1, 2 or 3 (percentage to rotate). If that is too much, use fractions, .8, .04, etc. until you get it right. Also, make sure you click the box for the direction, (left or right). Each time you don't get it right, use "ctrl z" to go back to where you started, you'll get an idea of just how much you need to rotate it. Do all that before you crop, though. I hope that makes sense. Good luck! :) Let me know. - Jeeny Talk 14:54, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
PS, it's important to "ctrl z" after you've selected a percentage if it is not quite straight 'each time, and then fiddle with the numbers. If you continue without going back to the original, the image looses quality. - Jeeny Talk 15:01, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
Dear Jeeny
[edit]Dear Jeeny, first of all, please, please sweetie, try and relax and don't worry, ok? I'm sure Coelacan is fine, and most likely he's away because of personal reasons - sometimes it's simply impossible to know the real life circumstances of another editor. Who knows, he could be away on vacation, or having connection problems, or literally hundreds of other possibilities. So try not to worry, please?
I'll try my best to find out if someone has news of him at IRC, and I'll email him myself. When I find something out, I'll get back to you immediately. In the meantime, if you need any sort of assistance, or if you have any questions at all, I'll be more than happy to help you. I know he's your adopter, not me; but I'm sure he won't mind if I take care of helping you out while he's away. Again, sweetie, don't worry. Coe will be back in no time, I'm sure :) Love, Phaedriel - 18:10, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Dear Jeeny, Thanks for your July 4 greetings. I am bi- a Canadian AND a US citizen. Quite legal now. So I celebrated July 1 -- Canada Day. And worked today -- but joyously, as a wonderful student got her Ph.D. It's funny to think of July 4 as Independence Day, given US antics in Iraq. I crossed the border to a conference in Michigan last week, and the difference between the surly, militaristic US immigration and the sweet Cdn immigration was huge. Both do the same job, but the Cdns don't make enemies doing it. To top it off, I met a USAF guy at the conference who without shame talked about fighting the "bad guys", at which point I asked him who started the Iraqi war. He then said "I don't do politics," which is pretty amazing as the term "bad guys" is very political -- us vs them; good guys vs bad guys. Perhaps this is more than you want to know, but it is what I am thinking on July 4. Oh, and laughing at Will Smith saving the world with a Mac that spoke alien. I think I am not going to sign this, but you know who it is, to avoid harassment. (99)

Big Brother 8
[edit]OK, I really don't want to sound patronising, but please calm down about Big Brother 8 (US). Last year the problem with whether or not the article should be updated along with the show or feeds, and the consensus was real-time updating. It's important that Wikipedia articles be collaborative efforts where all people have a say in the matter, and discussion is good. Getting into edit wars and not discussing options will not do any good. If you are upset with the way that the article is being edited, please mention it at the discussion page. It's not just your article, it's everone's article. Geoking66talk 06:33, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
- Um... OK. But, I have been discussing changes on the talk page. Maybe you should take a look. Also, I certainly do not think of the article as my own. I am always of the opinion that this project is a collaborative, and hope you can see that by my edits, and discussion on the talk pages. Yet, I do realize, and know, that this particular article is subject to all kinds of edits, and I take interest that, that it remains encyclopedic. Especially, since this is a reality show, there is competition to be the first to contribute information, etc. And a desire to be first to post spoilers, or someone's website, etc. Also, where does it say that live feeds are appropriate? If that was the case, then most people would subsribe to them. My ego is just fine. Thanks for your concern. - Jeeny Talk 07:02, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Again, sorry I attacked them I've changed the thing a bit, but they should know that the public does not get to vote someone out, but tell Eric who he should vote for and everyone else in the house has a vote, not just Eric. :( Seth71 20:26, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Gillray image
[edit]Hello, again. I was wondering what you could do with the image at the left. To make it anything close to visible in this article, it starts to take over the page. I would like to cleanly cut out the cornucopia section, with all of the little pieces of paper, and post only that to the article. Is this possible? I saw it done in a journal article, but that's high-tech stuff. Would you be able to do this? All I can do is hack away at it and make it look hideous, unfortunately. Awadewit | talk 08:47, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, so you want everything in the image to stay, but the cornucopia and ALL the papers, such as those in pockets and hands? If so, with my little program, I would be working on it for days. Like you said it's high tech. PSP7 is not high tech. I've learned little tricks, though, but to remove such a large part of the image, when it is so busy in the first place, I would have to draw in the missing background behind all the papers and large cornucopia. Sorry, maybe you can get an ambitious person with a neato program at the Wikipedia:Graphic Lab. I'll still try to fiddle with it. You do mean to leave everything else in the image, except all the papers and cornucopia, right? Do you need the man on the pedestal so I could crop that part out just to the cornucopia, and try to work on removing the papers from the other part of the image? Hmmm, but then you'd lose the bottom caption of the image. Shucks, unless you could do without it. - Jeeny Talk 17:06, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant to cut out everything except the cornucopia and the papers flowing out of it. The cornucopia and the papers represent the publishing output of Joseph Johnson. I just want to have that little snippet of the cartoon. Does that make sense? Awadewit | talk 23:45, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, big difference. Can you do without the caption? If not, then it can't be done. If you want just the cornucopia and the papers flowing out of it with a couple of characters still in the image that are just around the cornucopia, I think I can do that. It will take a bit longer than just a crop or straightening, because I have to freehand the outlines of the part of the image you want to keep. - Jeeny Talk 00:15, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- I don't need the caption. Cornucopia, papers and people around is exactly what I need. Thanks so much. There is no rush. Awadewit | talk 00:35, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Tammy Faye; Recent Death
[edit]I see that you restored the recent death tag to Tammy Faye. Could I ask you to read this and then give me your response? I'd rather not revert without discussing it with you first. Thanks. Unschool 05:23, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hey, please understand, I'm not saying that you did anything wrong. You merely did what so many others have done. I am merely suggesting, as a community, that we think about what we are doing with all these tags. People who come here looking for information about a subject are often instead shown a collection of two, three, or more of these banners across the top of the article. All they come here for is to find information about a subject, but instead we bombard them with information about Wikipedia. It's really quite egocentric, on our part, and I'm just asking that we think about whether or not our "tags" (banners would be a more accurate term, methinks) are adding or subtracting to the value of what we produce. I think sometimes they are helpful, but that such cases comprise less than 5% of all the tagging being done out there. If you read my questions, then you know how I feel about one tag; I could go on for quite a while about the others. But I'll spare you. Thanks for your cheerful attitude; hope I run across you again sometime. Unschool 05:41, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- I posted a comment to User talk:Unschool about the tag. I believe the tag is appropriate in deaths of celebrities because a death prompts numerous edits and is often difficult to differentiate the garbage/vandalism from legitimate edits. I think the wording of the tag should be changed but at least it warns you that the article may not be 100 percent reliable immediately after a death. Americasroof 13:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Hi Jeeny! Since the verification tag applies to the Early life section, it's normally placed above that section. In my browser, it runs a little into the infobox, but the text remains visible, even when I reduce the width of my window. I've moved it back to that section, as it's important we place tags where they should be, rather than overwhelming visitors at the top with various blurbs. Take care, j talk 03:48, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Second Subject for the Evening . . .
[edit]I see on here that you're considered by many to be a whiz on things graphical. I'm not sure if this falls within your area of expertise, but I've got a bit of a problem that I'm wondering if you can help me with. On this page, I'm trying to get rid of the huge blank area between the text of the stub and the template at the bottom. None are my creations, but I came across them tonight, and tried to make it better, and failed utterly. I thought that by shrinking the width of the template, that it would slip up into the blank area, but of course it did not work. Do you understand what I am trying to do? Can you help me? [edit]Jeeny, thanks for all your help in co-operating with T and me regarding Big Brother articles. It really does mean a lot when someone works steadfast to improve an article and to fight vandalism. We had similar problems last year and in 2005, and even though we don't normally aknowledge it on Wikipedia, it is very much appreciated. Let's make this article rock! Geoking66talk 01:50, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
- Day 1 strictly means the day that the housemates entered the house. Thus, the launch of BBUS this year was around Day 6, not Day 1. It is normally advised to use the "Day x" formula because it is a better gauge of at what time during the season a specific event happened. Hope that helps. Geoking66talk 04:27, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Giving up
[edit]I'm on the verge of giving up. Dealing with these imbeciles who don't understand the word "collaboration" is exhausting. I work my ass of finding references and information and people just delete it in return. Sorry about the slight vulgarity but it's horrid now. I'm definitely taking a wikibreak from BB8 US and then they'll see what it's like when someone who really cares about an article and can properly structure it is gone.
