Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Jem Singapore, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!

I have a feeling you need this after how you've started out. A lot of people make their first page and it gets deleted. I ask you to take a look at Our Criteria for pages that are instantly deleted (also known as the Criteria for Speedy Deletion). Your page fell under G11, Clearly just being promotional. Please bear in mind Wikipedia is not just something to promote a business or place, it needs to actually be notable. Now i'm not the brightest spark on explaining how an article can be kept so i'm going to leave a notice that will attract the attention of others who can explain it.

I hope this start hasn't put you off of helping us out. MIVP - (Can I Help?) (Maybe a bit of tea for thought?) 12:26, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Jem Singapore! The section below explains the details of what went wrong and how you can fix it. Wikipedia is very much a learning experience, and it is well worth the effort! Best of everything to you and yours! – PAINE ELLSWORTH CLIMAX! 13:31, 2 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The page Jem Singapore has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the content of the page appeared to be blatant advertising which only promoted something, and which was unlikely to be suitable for an article (or at best would need a fundamental rewrite). Wikipedia is not a medium for promotion of anything, whether a company, product, group, service, person, religious or political belief, or anything else. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Hello, Jem Singapore. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you should consider our guidance on Conflicts of interest and take a look at the Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:35, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing, because this account has been used only for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to Wikipedia policy. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation, which is also against policy. Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a free advertising service. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.
