THIS IS MY QUESTION: Roomba page[edit]

INTRO: Hi. I've been making changes to the Roomba page, and I've run into a political problem. I want, and it seems that others want this as well, to add the excellent Roomba Review forums [[1]] to the list of external links. But it looks like another user, in Talk:Roomba, says he continues to remove it from the external links section, and he directs other users not to add it back in. Reason: says that a forum cannot be verified as a reliable source.

QUESTION: Is it appropriate to add user forums, not as a regular external link, but as a website in the external link section of a page?

EXPLANATION: A bit of justification for this particular link. The Roomba Review forum, which I'd like to add, has 19k messages since 2004, and easily does a dozen new messages a day. Second in line would be iRobot's official forum at Yahoo! Groups, with 13k messages from 2002, having approx 2 new messages per day. (I don't know if it'd be appropriate to add a second forum or not. Or if an official forum should take precidence.) Oddly enough, there is already another forum listed in the external links section. Since 2005, it has 27 messages. I believe this should be removed.

PROBLEM: As mentioned in the intro, another user is claiming that any link for a forum is forbidden. Even in the external link section.

CLOSING: Can you help us find an appropriate understanding or solution to this issue? This is an incredibly relevant link, and isn't, at least on my behalf, a case of playing favorites with the link section. --Jmccorm 16:00, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:EL is the official policy. WP:NOT says you may have ONE fan-site link. Xiner (talk, email) 16:50, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your quick response. Is it, then, appropriate for me to replace the weak forum (27 messages) with the strongest one (19k messages), or with the official company forum for users (13k messages)? (If so, which, or is it my choice?) --Jmccorm 16:55, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd insert the biggest fan site, which is not official in this case. I'd try to work out the compromise on the article talk page, explaining your rationale first, however. Xiner (talk, email) 17:09, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
