People have various opinions regarding various pieces. I imagine you noticed the description of the views that Petrushka is octatonic rather than polytonal. Wikipedia's policy and, ideally, practice is not to describe the "truth" but to describe the various published (credible) opinions. This can be annoying, but if you know the "rules" can be easy to work around. For instance, it sounds like you are/were familiar with the sources describing Petrushka as octatonic and could thus easily consult them, cite or quote them in the article, and thus bolster your opinion/"the truth".
