Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to El Modena High School appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Re: Notable section

[edit]

Hello -

My name is Jonathan Pongco and I am the Social Media / Web Curator for El Modena High School. I (we / El Modena High School) am working with Bernie Fratto (notable alumnus class of 1975) to add his information to the Notable Alumni Section of the El Modena High School Wikipedia page.

I’m sorry I’m not up to speed on Wikipedia etiquette.

Please contact me if you can assist me with my current work on updating our Wikipedia page (el Modena high school)

Thank you,

Jonathan Pongco El Modena High School

It's not your school's page. It's Wikipedia's page about your school. Big difference. You school has no say over what does or does not get included in this article. You may remove blatant vandalism and you are welcome to suggest changes on the talk page, but you should normally not be editing the article. Meters (talk) 20:23, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at El Modena High School, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Stop adding this person. He does not have an article to how his notability, he does not have a ref to show his attendance, and his person web page is not a reliable source. Meters (talk) 20:11, 12 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Jpongco. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page El Modena High School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Per your above statement, as the school's Social Media / Web Curator you definitely have a conflict of interest in editing this school article. Again, you need to read and comply with WP:COI. You should not edit the article directly, but should propose changes on the article talk page instead.In fact, it appears that you may be a paid editor, in which case you are required to follow WP:PAY. Dear Wikipedia members -

Thank you for helping clarify the rules to Wikipedia - I am relatively new to the process and wish to respect the moderated guidelines. I will be attempting to suggest edits once I believe the prerequisite reference requirements have been met.

Thank you,
