The article’s status is over halfway done, but there is still some work to be done. The article could use one or more additional images with robust captions, and would also stand to benefit from more concrete section divisions. The “History” heading feels out of place and could be developed more. The “Theories of Development” section also feels like an unfinished ending to the article overall.

The article has strengths in the amount of research/the references already used. It is built on a foundation of facts as well as academic engagement. The “Theories of Development” are certainly unique and provide a different perspective than mere facts.

The article could be improved with the aforementioned updates to make it more finished; the clarity of writing could also be polished to create a more linear flow as one reads down the page.

I would assess the article as underdeveloped. It still needs several crucial changes to look more like an official Wikipedia page, including the use of more images and visual organization. However, the foundation for the article is in place and looks well-measured and varied, it just needs to be polished. Sferguson11 (talk) 21:18, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For a work in progress, this looks like a good start. I think you could flesh out the history section to more accurately portray the legacies of gender inequality in Africa. I also think that you could rearrange your topics, as I feel that the history section should, if not the very beginning, be at least the second section for your article. Adding more visual aids is always a plus, and I feel that a lead section that highlights what your definitions of gender equality and how they fit in a colonial context would be a great addition. Another angle you could look to take this article would be looking at differences in the colonial impacts of the different colonizing countries. If there is a difference in how the British empire affected gender inequality, versus the French, that would be interesting to look at. Also, defining all of the colonizing countries outside of just the map can help the reader better understand the political separations apparent in Africa. As of now, the article seems developed, but not complete yet, so continuing to flesh out your main sections and adding further information you’re looking to implement would be the right move forward. Great work so far! Jrugumayo (talk) 19:06, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
