Isabelle Eberhardt

[edit]

Hi there. I appreciate your interest in the article Isabelle Eberhardt. I'm not sure how much you know about Wikipedia, but since you appear to be using a new account, I'll assume you are brand new here. Isabelle Eberhardt is a featured article, which basically means it has been peer reviewed and assessed as one of Wikipedia's best articles; only about 0.1% of articles on Wikipedia have met the extremely high standards to be accepted as featured. The article has been assessed against several criteria, including comprehensiveness. Accordingly, adding new content to the article is not necessarily a good thing, as all the aspects of the article have already been deemed of a high-standard.

My first advice would be to not edit the 0.1% of articles that have actually gone through the extreme peer reviewing that featured articles require until have some good experience of editing under your belt. There's no rules expressly forbidding it, but I didn't feel confident to modify featured content until I'd been editing for a few years.

Secondly, as this is a featured article, every single new sentence or piece of content you add needs to have an inline citation to a high-quality reliable source. The majority of the content you added did not. This is not acceptable.

Lastly as this is a featured article, if you did want to add new content I would like to discuss the matter on the article's talk page first. Please state what you would like to add, the source you have found that backs this up (this may need to be scanned and emailed to other editors to verify if it is not accessible online) and why you think the article is currently lacking and needs to be expanded. For example, you added the sentence "Her cross-gender dress, cross-cultural relations and disorderly conduct (drugs, alcohol, sexual relations) produced a great deal of hostility towards her by the European colonial settlers." These aspects have already been sufficiently covered, and accordingly, it's my opinion this just makes the article repeat itself and is therefore not an improvement.

You are most welcome to contact me if you have any questions. Have a nice day. Damien Linnane (talk) 15:29, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
