Karen Moller was born in Trail BC in 1938
1956-1959 she attended Albert College of Art
1959 inspired by Kerouac’s book at On the Road, she hitchhiked to San Francisco where she met Lawrence Ferlinghetti, and several of the other famous beatnik poets, Ginsberg, Corso and Burroughs.
Sept 1959-60 she studied painting with André Lhote in Paris, and he recommended her for a Canada Council Art scholarship saying she would bring honour to Canada.
1960 she participated in Poetry and Art Events, becoming friendly with artists and musicians such as John Cage, Andy Warhol, Yves Klein, Beuys, Tinguely, Fluxus artists and Visual Poets and worked with Robert Filliou on his theatre project Collage of the Immortal Death of the World, for the Festival d’art Avant-garde.” She also
Sept 1960 In Spain, she worked with architects designing furniture and fabrics which allowed her to develop her decorating and fashion talents. She opened
1962 as part of Swinging London, she opened her own "hippie boutique" in London - Twiggy modeled her clothes - and became one of the famed Carnaby Street and King's Road designers who permanently changed the way the world dresses. She sold her hip outfits to Carnaby Street, Kings Road, Paris and across America. As one of the prime mover of the sixties she got to know the Pop world of Pink Floyd, Beatles and Rolling Stones and took part in the arts, experimental poetry groups, feminist and political protests.
1966 she was invited by Barry Fantoni, the TV personality of the year, to to discuss young fashion on his television show of fashion and music, The Whole Scene Goin,. The show, named after a Bob Dylan track, went out live each week, attracting sixteen million viewers and in the end made Fantoni.
1968 While selling her designs to Paris boutiques, she took part in the May 68 on the barricades.
1969, she established the first textile design studio in London and sold designs to all the International fashion icons in England, France, Italy and America, winning international recognition and awards--such as the Tommy in New York--and.
1976 In order to work more closely with her International clients she moved her studio to Paris.
1985 with a notable group of designers, she created Trend Union, a design consulting and forecasting firm that broke the fashion barriers. TIME magazine named Trend Union as “One of the world's most influential fashion futurists.”
2007 her memoir Technicolor Dreamin’ the 1960’s Rainbow and Beyond was published. 2014 it was published in Spain by La Bahia.
2008 In Her Own Fashion was published by Sterlinghouse.
