License tagging for Image:Shad Bagh Lahore.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Shad Bagh Lahore.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:07, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Links to personal websites
[edit]Hi, you should not link to any websites that you own or maintain (see WP:EL#ADV). Thanks. → AA (talk) — 17:26, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
Which website link are you referring to and on which page?
--Kashif Yaqoob Butt (talk) 13:58, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
- Links to www.LinkToIslam.net (which on your userpage you say is your site). Even if it wasn't a site managed by you, linking to it would nevertheless be inappropriate per the guidelines in WP:EL. → AA (talk) — 17:21, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok. So, to avoid this in the future, what is the process of adding external links? Should I ask someone before changing a page? --Kashif Yaqoob Butt (talk) 19:55, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- If the link is to a site you own/manage, then you should raise a topic in the talk page and let another editor add it to the article. In general, we only add links that provide further reading material which has information that is not available in the article itself. Have a read of the various policies and guidelines here to familiarise yourself with them which will help you in navigating your way around the encyclopedia. Happy editing! → AA (talk) — 08:57, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. Do I have to remove the link from user page as well?
--Kashif Yaqoob Butt (talk) 21:53, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- It would be best to remove it from your userpage too. You can review WP:USER & WP:EL to aquaint yourself with what can/cannot be included. → AA (talk) — 00:48, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I have removed the link but left the website's name (Link To Islam) in there. --Kashif Yaqoob Butt (talk) 00:29, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
