Hello...

[edit]

Um, who are you? I don't mind if someone copies my userpage design but almost the whole page is a bit unwarranted. I have a small suspicion that you are someone from my school. I'm going to delete the page until you write about yourself. Thanks GizzaChat © 11:14, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing that out. I have now mentioned that my userpage is an exception. Sorry for getting angry at you like that but the main reason I deleted it is because it is not true. It looks stupid to have a list of pages that I created and claiming you created it. If I didn't find out, I reckon someone else would tell you eventually that you don't work on Indian and Australian articles here on Wikipedia. Of course you can take the design! But why do you want to show other Wikipedians that you follow cricket and rugby when you probably don't. It can also cause major problems eg. There was a category on the page "Indian administrators." That means if someone needs admin related help on an Indian issue you can't help because you are not an admin yet. I hope you understand. Thank you. GizzaChat © 04:28, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Julie Kavner

[edit]

Regarding your edit at Julie Kavner. You didn't cite any references for her death, and I can't find any. I've therefore reverted it. If you can find a reliable source for this information, then please add it back again. Kissmequick 07:25, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Plural of stadium

[edit]

I didn't like this edit which you made, apparently without discussion. [1] Stadiums is a perfectly good plural. --Guinnog 02:22, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Or indeed this [2]. Any chance of reverting the changed you made, unless you can show evidence there was a consensus for these edits? Otherwise I will. --Guinnog 02:25, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I share Guinnog's concern. You appear to have made a unilateral decision to change "stadiums" to "stadia". Both forms are perfectly good plurals of stadium, and indeed in modern English "stadiums" is far more commonly used. Please either explain where you have sought community consensus for this change or revert it. Thanks, Gwernol 09:56, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The more I look at this the less I like the change you have made (see for example [3]). I am going to revert your changes. Please discuss with other editors and gain their consensus before chaging back. Thanks, Gwernol 10:06, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I have attempted to undo the massive change you had made. You need to go through and make sure that there are no left-overs that I missed in the 200-odd articles you changed. Please do not attempt to make such a large-scale, unilateral change again without first gaining consensus. Pushing your point of view about grammatical "correctness" is inappropriate, particularly since your view flies in the face of common grammatical usage. Thanks, Gwernol 10:51, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You wrote on my talk page:

Please restore my edits that you undid immediately. Undoing somebody else's work is WP:Vandalism. Further, as an administrator you should have been aware that Wikipedia is not a democracy WP:NOT, thus "consensus" is not required before fixing a problem. However, to satisfy your appetite the "evidence of consensus" is :
* Number of wikipedians: 1,945,844
* Number who object to my changes: 2
It's entirely inappropriate that 2 people who feel aggrieved for some resaon, upset the rest of the wikipedia community. It took me a long time to do the work; I don't appreciate your destroying it. So, please restore my work, and please think carefully about the apology that you're going to offer me.

The change you made is incorrect and pushing your personal grammatical point of view without consultation with any of the editors who have worked hard on the articles involved. I will not change the edits back. Trust me it took me almost as long to undo the mess you made of the various articles. Your claim that 1,945,844 Wikipedians agree that the plural of "stadium" is "stadia" is clearly specious, by the way. I offer no apology for maintaining the quality of Wikipedia against blatant point of view pushers like yourself. Thanks, Gwernol 04:17, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please try to learn from this and move on. Making such sweeping changes without seeking consensus was unwise and caused other people trouble. There are better ways to do things. --Guinnog 04:21, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
