"The magazine is notable -- it's had considerable press coverage, it has published National Book Award Winners, U.S. Poets Laureate, and an upcoming issue will feature a Nobel Laureate."

Well, the article didn't mention any of that, aside from a brief mention of local press coverage. I'll restore it, and I expect you to add all that material so as to properly indicate notability.

By the way, the deletion rationale was "not yet notable" - a twice-yearly magazine that only started last year? How notable can that be, this early on? (Answer: if it's published original work by National Book Award winners and Poets Laureate... pretty damn notable.)

I don't ever judge the content of an article as "not notable", only "not yet notable" or "notability not asserted" (or the occasional "no context", or "gibberish", or "attack page", or "apparent copyvio", or "apparent hoax", or "blatant lies", or... well, the point is that I try to avoid saying that something simply isn't notable).

"As a literary venture, it has been nothing short of a success."

We get lots of people who try to mention their literary ventures so that they may be a success - and that, of course, misses the point. It's vaguely paradoxical - you can only be mentioned in Wikipedia if you're notable enough to not need to be mentioned in Wikipedia.

"It should therefore be included on wikipedia, as others may find out about it and its writers (MANY of whom have their own articles)."

Granted.

"In addition, the article was written according to wikipedia standards, it was unbiased, cited its sources, and was present on the site with no major problems."

Yes, it was, and I commend you for that.

"So why delete it? Deleting the website according to lack of "notability" seems more arbitrary than anything else, as the journal is quite notable, particularly in the American literary scene."

I deleted it because you didn't explain why it was notable, and therefore I (wrongly) concluded that it did not meet criteria for inclusion. Please accept my sincere apologies.

Here you go; it'll be restored within three minutes of the timestamp on this message. I'll be checking Knockout (literary magazine) later today, and I expect you to have amended it so as to mention the various notable contributors. DS (talk) 14:33, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
