Personal note and warning vandals[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia! It's always nice to see new users who are helping stamp out vandalism. Keep in mind it's important to warn users- in fact, I'll give you the warning about warning users below this personal notice. You can see the entire list of warnings here: Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions! tedder (talk) 03:19, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

July 2009[edit]

Information.svg Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. tedder (talk) 03:20, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Response[edit]

Thanks. I'll come back if I have time to spend on all such details, especially those governing direct interaction with other users. I was trying to contribute what little I could to help in the limited time I had, but it looks like even that will require more of an investment than I can make due to other commitments. Koumz (talk) 03:30, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. It has been nice to have you here. There are tools that make it easier, like WP:TWINKLE you might consider checking out. tedder (talk) 03:46, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

I think I have an easier time with gnome work, so I'll stick to that for now and go back to the other if I resolve the personal interaction conundrum. Koumz (talk) 06:09, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm addicted now, so I doubt I'll be able to stop trying to fix issues unless I stop using WP altogether, which is unlikely. That said, I have to note (as have many others) that sometimes it feels like bailing the sea with a thimble (this feeling is the only thing that can stop me from trying to contribute in a useful way, but thankfully it just means I shut down and go away for a while, and not that I shout at people or anything like that.). I also have to note that, although considerable effort was made not to bite me, for which I am thankful, the idea of receiving a warning for a procedural error while trying to help bail the sea with a thimble still stings quite a bit. And since I am an addictive/compulsive type of personality, the sting returns every time I visit this page, and I have to fight through it again in order to go on contributing.Koumz (talk) 01:07, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Welcome![edit]

Hi, I noticed you on the Dab Challenge leaderboard and wanted to say hello and welcome. BTW I noticed your 2009 post; if you're interested in a quiet nook of Wikipedia that has a constant need for intelligent and focused contributors, we would love to have you. Cheers, --JaGatalk 08:29, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Re:Loader[edit]

Hi Koumz, If you could show me some sample data and screenshots, I can run it and figure out why it is not working. I will fix the spelling for separator. Ganeshk (talk) 17:47, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

I have responded here. Ganeshk (talk) 19:49, 10 September 2011 (UTC)
No problem. Glad to hear that you guys work together and improve it. OhanaUnitedTalk page 00:46, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

UTC[edit]

Hi, I noticed that yesterday on the Fish quiz you posted a different UTC time than I did. I'm pretty sure mine is right but are you putting the correct times? Let me know. Thanks. Pteronura brasiliensis (Please talk to me) 8:00, 7 September, 2011 (UTC)

My appologies.[edit]

Dear Wikipedia and Mr. Koumz,

I will discontinue my posts about AKATA on all wiki links, please do not block my mother's IP address. Thank you, and sorry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.105.169.251 (talk) 20:53, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 15[edit]

Hi. When you recently edited List of minor biblical figures, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Judah (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I apologize for the harmful things my younger brother said.[edit]

I was informed by my brother Evan that he had been banned. He told me he wrote harmful things on your talk page. I assume this is why he was banned. Of course, being his older brother I ratted him out. I hope you know he is being punished. I would also like to say that he is on the autism spectrum with bi-polar disorder and asperger's syndrome. He is very passionate about animals (especially fish) and does not enjoy being corrected. I hope you can forgive him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KyotoMiyazaki (talkcontribs) 02:34, 6 July 2012 (UTC)

Rainbow trout transparent.png Whack!

You've been whacked with a wet trout.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know you did something silly.

. NOTE TO SELF: Read the instructions first, especially if there are no other instances of the same thing. OUCH! Koumz (talk) 17:15, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Creating a redlink[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure what led to this. I reverted it as it was clearly a slip-up, but are there likely to be any more like that? – Fayenatic London 19:06, 13 December 2012 (UTC)

There was a slip-up there, but it was in failing to create the redirect, not in the link, as the target page was a disambiguation page at the time of that edit. The target is no longer a dab page, but is a redirect, so the link could stand piping anyway. I doubt there are any more. Koumz (talk)

Fixing dablinks in discussions[edit]

Regarding edits like this[1] - isn't it best to leave comments on talk pages unchanged? DexDor (talk) 19:38, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Could see a position for this either way: on the one hand, it does make sense to maintain the original text of the comment; on the other hand, especially if the page has been moved, the meaning of the comment has been changed by the move and would require a dig through the page archives for an understanding of what was being referred to at the time. I think I'll opt to agree with you and not do that anymore though. Koumz (talk) 19:58, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

HPS Ahluwalia[edit]

Hi. Good to see someone else trying to 'tame' the H. P. S. Ahluwalia page too. But, I am almost certain that the good Major himself, or at least user Majorahluwalia (talk · contribs) will be back to restore their preferred version.

He's almost totally ignored any advice, and never actually replied to any message on his userpage. :-/ --220 of Borg 19:22, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Pending AfD that has stalled[edit]

Hey, Koumz. Have you been following this mess (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SoCal Coyotes) since you nominated it? It's stalled and the article author has created a nearly impenetrable wall of commentary on the AfD page. Could you describe what WP:BEFORE homework you did before you nominated the article? We need to figure out how to get our arms around this mess, and get it back on track to a decision, not merely re-listing it, again, in another week. Please let me know what you think.
