Need help. Can you please help me?[edit]

I need help on an edit. Is that something you can help with? I just created a new talk page describing my problem and I went into detail so deep that I'm not typing it all again until I know this is going through. Kristinewalker501 (talk) 13:10, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kristine! The reason your edit wasn't showing is because you added the lyrics in the middle of a table that was used for something else. However, I reverted your changes because Wikipedia is not a lyrics database, mostly because lyrics are typically copyrighted, but also because we don't usually include the full text of any type of work.
I've also closed removed the discussions you've opened on the Main Page's talk page because it doesn't belong here. You should try the help desk if you have more questions, or reply here.
Concerning the "dropdown" thing, these are called sections and you can start a new section by surrounding the caption with double or triple equal signs, like this: == A new section ==. You can have a look at the cheatsheet for more formatting. Happy editing! Isa (talk) 13:17, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry! :([edit]

Thanks. First of all, I need to make sure I'm replying to this in the proper way?? I clicked add discussion.So please let me know that... and tbh, I was just trying to make a quick edit just to see how it works but thanks for the heads up about the lyrics. And I'm sorry, so what specifically do I need to go to to learn how to create the drop down thing I mentioned?? Kristinewalker501 (talk) 13:26, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you probably shouldn't create a new discussion to answer, you can edit the page and add your comments just below the comment you're answering to. You'll typically want to indent your answer (offset it a bit to the right), like this one is, to make it clear who's answering what. To do that, you can add one or more : in front of your comment. If you click "Edit" at the top of this page, you'll see how I'm doing it. Isa (talk) 13:31, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kristine, do you mean something like this:

If so, you would create that with this wikitext:

{| class="wikitable collapsible collapsed" style="text-align: left;margin:0px;"
|-
! style="width:20em;" |Artist
! style="width:20em;" |Track
|-
|Mark Knopfler
|Brothers in Arms
|-
|W. Axl Rose
|Welcome to the Jungle
|-
|}

Hope this helps. MPS1992 (talk) 13:46, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@MPS1992: I don't think Kristine had collapsible tables in mind on the first day :) It was simply about creating new headers, which are collapsible on mobile. Isa (talk) 13:53, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Isanae: thank you for your reply. I'm sure you might be right about that. MPS1992 (talk) 13:57, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

     Hey all! Thanks so much for the replas. I was told that what I was trying to create is called a section. Does that sound right? I'm omw home now and plan on checking it out ASAP.
If you want to indent your message, you have to use colons, not spaces. Something like:
::::: This is indented.
If you use spaces, it'll make that weird box like it did above. And don't forget to sign your comments with four tildes! Isa (talk) 16:07, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
