[edit]Hello, I'm Cerebral726. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Sam Reich have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Cerebral726 (talk) 14:47, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Cerebral726. I'm Mr. Reich's assistant, and he has explicitly instructed me to replace his Wikipedia photo with the one I uploaded. Could you please guide me on the necessary steps to ensure that my contribution won't be reverted? Thank you so much. Kryztalestabillo (talk) 15:09, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Please follow the instructions below on managing a conflict of interest. You may start a discussion at Talk:Sam Reich about using the new photo. However, it seems unlikely you will gain WP:CONCENSUS to add the new photo, as it does not seem to meet the encyclopedic standards for inclusion. Cerebral726 (talk) 15:40, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Kryztalestabillo: Check out this guide which outlines suitable photos & how to upload an image without violating copyright. If you're fine with uploading a photo under CC by-sa 4.0, then you can head over to Wikimedia Commons and add it there. Here is an example photo that was added to the Commons under that license where the person photographed uploaded the image so it could be used on his article. Hi Kryztalestabillo! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Sam Reich several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Sam Reich, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Cerebral726 (talk) 14:57, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Kryztalestabillo. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Sam Reich, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. If you're his assistant and are editing the page on his request, then that's a conflict of interest. SlightlyToastedCheesecake (talk) 15:38, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
