Hi, my name is Klaus Kuhl and I work for the Cooperation Centre in Hamburg. We have conducted several European projects about parts cleaning. Recently we have written an article about it, which has been checked and slightly modified by our panel of German cleaning specialists. This article is on the German wikipedia since December last year (Teilereinigung). Meanwhile we have translated the article into English and added related literature. I want to upload this article to the English wikipedia under ‘parts cleaning’. Any comments are welcome.--Kuhl-k 19:59, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to the English Wikipedia. I am not familiar with the German Wikipedia and its policies, but you may want to look at the following policies on the English Wikipedia before uploading your article: Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, Wikipedia:Notability, Wikipedia:Reliable sources, Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.
If your article doesn't conflict with any of these policies, then add it. I'm not sure that Parts cleaning is the best title, though. What kind of parts are you talking about? The title isn't very clear -- it might be better to come up with something more specific that lets the reader know exactly what the article is about.
I hope that helps. If you have any further questions, post them here or on my talk page, and I'll try to help. —PurpleRAIN 20:13, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lothar Popp[edit]

{{helpme}} I'm doing a lot of research on the Sailors' mutiny 1918 in Kiel (Germany), which brought the WWI to an end (see: http://www.kurkuhl.de/english/index_en.html). One of the leaders of the mutiny was Lothar Popp, who was later forced to leave the country by the Nazis. He emigrated to New York and opened a small business: Lothar Popp Import and Export Manufacturer of Educational Toys, Microscops and Musical Instruments, 446 East 84th Street. So far I was not able to establish when he actually left Germany and when he came back (he died 1980 in Hamburg Germany). So I tried to ask the DOS of New York, (http://www.dos.state.ny.us/about/contact.asp?DCode=RULE) as to when Popp registered and de-registered his business, but never got an answer. Is there a chance that someone could direct me to the right office/person, who could answer my question?

A suggestion from someone on IRC if the DOS thing doest work out. "shipping registers pre-192something are online, you could use those to see when he arrived".   «l| Ψrometheăn ™|l»  (talk) 11:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
New York port of entry registers until 1924, to be precise - ellisisland.org. Doesn't seem to be helpful, though; no Lothar Popp shows up. You could always try contemporary telephone/business directories, but these might be hard to find without being in the city! Shimgray | talk | 11:07, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}

Many thanks for your suggestions. I tried ellisisland.org some time back as well as it's equivalent in Hamburg, Germany: linktoyourroots.com. Another researcher checked a book with expatriation lists: Michael Hepp, Ausbürgerungen deutscher Staatsbürger, München 1985. There is a Popp mentioned, who could be a relative. So far I think the best way is to check when he registered and de-registered his business in New York. In Germany we have registers of commerce (Handelsregister) and everyone can apply to the authority for certain information. So I thought someone could direct me to that New York office, if at all it exists. --Kuhl-k (talk) 16:23, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile I managed to find some information in www.linktoyourroots.com (or rather www.ancestry.de they operate the database for Hamburg). In the New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957 Lothar Popp, born in Furth, Germany, is mentioned. He gave as his last permanent residence: France, Marseille and arrived at 6 June 1941 on board the S.S. Evangeline from Trinidad.BWI. in New York. Nonetheless I'm still interested in when he registered and de-registered his business in New York and would be grateful, if someone can assist me. --Kuhl-k (talk) 14:12, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I assume you're talking to another editor. If you are, leave a message on that person's talkpage. Thank you.--Mr. SvMvP (talk) 17:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Karl Artelt[edit]

Hi Kuhl-k
Thanks for your prompt resonse to my edit. Yes, I did take a bit of a chance with the 'embellished' bit. When I read through the whole article, (which took some doing I can tell you), I was maybe a bit too bold.
If the sentence is wrong, go ahead and change it. Have another look at the whole thing, but please, avoid putting the noun before the verb. I know its common practice in Germany (I live there), but its not good English.

I'm not very quick at this editing lark, but I think I do know what looks right. If you need a hand, let me know, particulary if it is WWI or WWII related.

Regards

Disambiguation link notification for August 14[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Richard Stumpf, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page CDU. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

{{Re|Amkgp}} Plaschka has so far written the most authoritative studies on the subject. Unfortunately they are not yet available on the web. Also Fitl and Stulli are not yet available. --Kuhl-k (talk) 08:33, 19 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cattaro mutiny, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ragusa (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
