SNL Characters

[edit]

Hello, I'm the one that's been extensively updating SNL character articles. I notice that you're doing the same, and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on the problem that's come up with all the stubs that have come from the process. Gay Hitler and Zagat's have been nominated for deletion, and I think we should create categories which can encompass all the characters. Two categories I have in mind are "Characters Appearing on Weekend Update" and "Short-Lived Recurring Characters" (appearing four or fewer times).

My main question is, do you know how to logistically make this happen? I don't know the technical aspects of it, particularly how to link characters to those pages when they're created. Only names with their own pages can be linked like this right? If it was part of a larger article, that kind of link would go nowhere, right? Leadpipevigilante 00:19, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to stick this on both our talk pages, just in case. As far as I know, there are two ways to do this. One way is to create redirects from the character name to the page where their info resides. So for instance, Gay Hitler would redirect, presumably, to Characters appearing on Weekend Update (note the lowercase a due to the naming conventions).
The other thing we can do is use piped links with anchors on the list page to the correct part of the page you are speaking of creating (that I would help with, of course).
If you want, I can be in charge of the technical aspects of linking, etc, if you want to be the one to merge/compile the characters on their own page. Jacqui 00:40, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, first off, thank you for your work here on Wikipedia, but please don't redirect articles to other articles that don't exist. If you want to write an article on Weekend Update characters and then the redirect the individual pages there, go ahead, but create the page first. Thanks, and cheers. -Greg Asche (talk) 03:38, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Brian Fellow's Safari Planet article: please make an argument for redirecting the article to the SNL skits page and wait for some sort of consensus before reverting again. --DDerby-(talk) 17:01, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Leadpipevigilante! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 733 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Melanie Hutsell - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Short-lived recurring characters on Saturday Night Live. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Short-lived recurring characters on Saturday Night Live. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:11, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Rialto Grande has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

SNL sketch that doesn't meet notability guidelines. No decent sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
