Richard (Ryc) Loope is an American architect, builder, and real estate developer who has participated in over 350 projects throughout North America and Abroad. Such projects ranging from luxury & destination resorts, gold clubhouses, planned residential communities, luxury custom housing, fraction share developments, urban infill, mixed-use developments, university buildings, specialty retail centers, high-tech manufacturing facilities and historical renovations. R. Nicholas Loope, FAIA, having managed a broad portfolio of disciplines and services, is a seasoned and tested business and design professional. He has significant success and experience in leading global, multi-cultural teams, transforming high conflict environments into smooth projects with vast businesses grow through geographic expansion, M&A, Innovation, and cost competitiveness. Mr. Loope is a licenced architect and general contractor with a Masters Degree from Yale University in Environmental Design and has completed the PMD porgram at the Harvard Business School. He is a fellow in the American Institute of Architects and an Honorary Fellow in the Institute of Green Professionals. He served for twenty-two years as a tenured member of the faculty at Arizona State University’s College of Design's School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. He held a variety of academic posts during that time including the Inaugural Director of ASU’s first trans-disciplinary masters degree program in real estate development (MRED). For nine years he served as president and principal architect of Taliesin Architects, the continuation of the practice of Architecture begun by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1893. Subsequently, he led the Durrant Group, an ENR 300 E&A firm, as CEO and managing principal from 1997–2002. In 2010 he assisted Hami Global International in the acquisition of Otak Inc. and for 3 years severed as President & CEO while restructuring and expanding the firms practice platforms to become an international E&A firm and ranked in the ENR 200. His career began in the offices of one of America’s most notable architects Charles W. Moore, FAIA. In 2002 he established his own enterprise HL Design Build, LLC.
