Michael and Paul Dobson[edit]

Hello, LegoCityDude92. I am AtlantisBabylon123. I would like to talk to you about something regarding the pages for Canadian voice actors Michael Dobson and Paul Dobson.

In May 2021, you made some unsourced edits to both pages, changing the birth order of the brothers and contradicting the sources I cited (YouTube interviews with the actors themselves). In October 2022, you made identical edits, which were also unsourced. I sense you are a passionate Wikipedian who means well, but nevertheless I must ask you to refrain from adding new information to articles without reliable sources to support it, especially when the information being changed has already been sourced with one or more citations. Minor edits such as punctuation and spelling do not require citations, but major edits with new information such as personal details of living people very much do require evidence to back them up (see Wikipedia:Citing sources and Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons).

Please do not take this the wrong way. I do not wish to fight you. I appreciate your willingness to help out with Wikipedia. But you must know that there are hundreds of thousands of users who have worked hard to ensure Wikipedia's accuracy and reliability as an online encyclopedia, work which includes backing up one's contributions with sources, and that they do not appreciate their contributions being edited without good reasons. Just remember to add a citation every time you make major changes involving new information, such as a person's birthday, their relatives, and their political views. If the old information has already been cited, I would strongly recommend leaving it as it is unless you can confidently question the reliability of the source, in which case delete the citation. Here are the sources I used for the two articles in question (2 citations per source):
ZANE/HOT SHOT INTERVIEWS PYTHOR/STARSCREAM (Michael Dobson) part one:
  • Timestamp: 0:23 - Brent Miller (refering to Michael): "One of the three. The eldest Dobson."
  • Timestamp: 0:51 - Michael Dobson: "Here's just a quintessential little, kind of, slice of Paul growing up with me (Michael) as his big brother."
Voiceprint with Trevor Devall and Guests Episode 28 - Paul Dobson:
  • Timestamp: 36:43 - Paul Dobson: "Who should walk in, but my older brother Michael..."
  • Timestamp: 1:22:31 - Trevor Devall: "So you're the middle brother, first of all, right?" Paul Dobson: "I am the middle." Trevor Devall: "I mean, there's Mike and there's you (Paul) and there's Brian."
