Speedy deletion nomination of Little Bay, Barbados
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Little Bay, Barbados, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. SSTflyer 13:18, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Some advice
[edit]I noticed you'd asked for advice regarding the recently deleted "Little Bay" article. Wikipedia can be a different style of writing than people are used to, as strict neutrality in both content and tone are required.
The article, to be quite honest, read like a tourist brochure. Some examples are breathless peacock adjectives ("...breath-taking rock formations, picturesque views, shallow pools to swim in when the tide is low and bellowing blowholes that erupt ever so often out on the exposed reefs."), editorializing ("Despite the fact that it is a treasure for the locals who live in the surrounding areas..."), and flat-out promotion of a third-party site ("For images of Little Bay, click HERE."). An encyclopedia article should only neutrally describe what's been said by reliable sources, and should be primarily based on sources that have no interest in promoting (or denigrating) the article subject. For that reason, a government tourism promotion site probably isn't the best source for anything but uncontroversial facts. Articles should never contain personal knowledge that the editor writing it "just knows", only material that can be verified by references is acceptable.
I hope that's helpful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on my talk page (link is in the signature). Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:25, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
