Replaceable fair use File:Larsen C - New crack found below tip of previous crack May 1st 2017.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Larsen C - New crack found below tip of previous crack May 1st 2017.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 13:44, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions are appreciated. You are very welcome here. However, I have encountered possible copyright violation(s). Some or all of the content you added in a recent edit to Larsen Ice Shelf in this edit(s) appears to have been copy pasted from this source and has been removed.

Please remember that you must write in your own words. We cannot copy and paste from other websites. If I have made an error, please accept my apologies.

For further information, please read Wikipedia:Copyright violations. If you have questions, please ask. Best wishes, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:30, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(Libby Benlea (talk) 23:14, 20 July 2017 (UTC)) I'm so sorry! I would have been happy to rewrite the information in my own hand (and remove the grammatical errors) but I thought the reason for the citing was for a word-by-word extraction of the original piece.[reply]

I will happily go back and make this my own, just using the reference source as that (with credit given).

Again, my sincere apologies. I'll do better next time!

Thank you so much for your understanding. I've gone through most of your edits and removed what I could. Please, please help. You know your edits better than anyone else. Please see your contributions and click the "diff"s that have a large green number that looks like this: (+1,079)‎. Those are the ones where you added substantial content. When you spot copy pasted content, please click on the article tab to see if the copy pasting is still in the current version. If so, please remove or rewrite it (being mindful to avoid close paraphrasing). Many thanks again! Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:27, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Libby Benlea (talk) 01:08, 21 July 2017 (UTC) Actually, I did go through and look at the edits, but at this point it is impossible to say what is mine, and what has been edited over by others. Since this in now a past event, I can reduce down the information so that it doesn't read minute by minute, but becomes more of a summary, keeping sufficient source material. If that will suffice, I'll be glad to tackle the information and condense it for current reading.[reply]

Just let me know! Thanks again!! I'm still learning!!!

It's alright. I think I got it all anyway. Happy editing. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:08, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Help, please

[edit]

I see you have added plenty of copy pasted content to articles. Would you please help go back to those articles and remove that content? I would be grateful. Thank you. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 22:33, 20 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
