Godmode-light fix

Hi - I tried to implement your godmode-light fix [1], but still can't seem to get it to work correctly. After switching from the script to the pasted code (with the changed line), I only see "Rollback" buttons when looking at a user's contributions page (no longer appears on diff pages), and it still errors with a "Talk was not the last editor" or such code. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins. Regarding the 204.76.0.33 IP address

I saw that you removed it from the admin intervention list. Given that, what do you intend to do about this IP? Whether or not it's shared, EVERY contribution from it has been vandalism; not to mention the fact that some of it has been "sneaky" vandalism (changing 10s to 20s), things that don't get noticed and sit on the page. On the deletion of YES Recovery article

Hi, Lightdarkness. I understand and respect your reasons for doing so, but I think you have erred in deleting the YES Recovery page. You are quite right when you say that you can't tell who is behind the movement. However, there are two reasons for this. One is that like Alcoholics Anonymous, the members maintain anonymity (as they could lose their jobs, or perhaps be in trouble with the law for being addicted to legal or illegal drugs). Another reason is that, if you read the article and the YES Recovery Document, which is at Wikisource, you will see that it is a non-hierarchical movement -- by its very organizational charter there are no leaders or rented offices, etc. That might not fit your idea of an official "movement", but that doesn't negate the fact that people are involved in it around the world and value the support it gives people with illnesses like alcoholism and other addictions. I know for a fact that there are such people, but I won't break their anonymity just as I wouldn't name a member of Narcotics Anonymous or Gamblers Anonymous, Smart Recovery, Rational Recovery or any such self-help groups for people with addictions. I'm sure you meant well, but your deletion of the article seems to me rather stepping outside your own personal experience, and I think it shows a bit of bias against groups for which you can't find a head office in a street directory -- it's not that kind of movement. Neither is the Goth movement, the Punk movement nor many other movements that are quite valid although not structured like Greenpeace or the Democrats. I know of drug and alcohol therapists who are not only interested in YES Recovery, but who give their clients copies of the Yes Recovery Document. Besides, what harm was that article doing? I personally know of people in serious trouble healthwise who have been helped by it -- I just can't name them of course. One reason that it doesn't rate as highly on Google as you might like is that most addicts can't afford computers ... but they are still worthy human beings. You also said that you thought the movement was created for Wikipedia. That is not the case -- YES Recovery was helping addicts when Wikipedia was barely born. I would put the article back there myself if I knew how, but I would like to think that you would do so out of respect for the people who value that anonymous group, and who will be very disappointed to find someone rather peremptorally remove it because he didn't know much about it. Sandbox

Dominick's

Hi there. You reverted my blanking and tagging for copyvio of Dominick's (which I'd kept on my watch list). It appears as if the page from which the information originally came has been recently changed. However, using the internet archive you can see that the information did originate at that page archived version 2005 March 05. The article itself wasn't created until after this date and thus it is impossible to be wikicontent being used on the company's website. Hiya, just replying to your comment about the McFly page. You said the information in the two paragraphs was copied word for word from another website. I was just wondering if you could tell me what website this was? The only one I could find is guitarmasta.net and they have the McFly Wikipedia page as their references...so it looks like they got their information from Wikipedia rather than the other way round, if of course, this is the website you are reffering to. My monobook files

Hello Lightdarkness, I was wondering if you could take a look at my monobook.js file. It is a rather complex mishmash of scripts, and I owe Topaz and OwenX for making it work. However I am having an interaction between Essjay's User function tab and everything else, which limits the number of tabs I can add to a page to six. However I have 7 tabs on user talk pages (although one of them could go), and a whole lot on the Confirm delete page. I need the tabs for confirm delete, and since you wrote ARV, I thought you might have the skill to fix it. Also, the User Functions tab uses some monobook.css modifications, and that is what limits the tabs, so either there is a bug in the css file, or the p-cactions function is called somewhere it shouldn't be in the .js file. So it is rather complex ;-) If you can't help me, do you know someone who can? Any help would be appreciated, as this is the last bug in my otherwise perfect monobook. Update to text on AfD

Hi. I changed the text on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/current but I see this will get wiped by the bot next time. I think the text there should be a tad more conservative on encouraging people to use prod; I'd like it to say "If you are confident it will not be controversial", which gets the point across better. I've been patrolling proposed deletions and people are often confused about Prod, and I think as this line is one way in which prod is introduced to editors, it needs to be revised. VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. EastEnders images

Hello. I see you removed the copyvio status of Image:Michael Rose.jpg. This image does not meet our guildlines. It does not come from a press kit. We cannot verify that the BBC inteads to release this to be reproduced by the media. We can only verify that they intend it to be distributed (to fans). 'Fair use' tags are not wild cards that we play with liberally.

Before I formally list it, what are your thoughts on Image:Facade.jpg. The 'source' is an unoffical website, and it has a copyright notice on the front page. The JPS ^{talk to me} 11:31, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Maybe I'm not fully understanding what a publicity photo is, but I'm sure that Image:Michael Rose.jpg can fall under another fair use blanket (but a fair use rationale is needed regardless). Thanks for your reply. A publicity photo, under our guidlines, are images taken from a press kit (or a part of a website marked press/media kit) and are clearly marked for reproduction. It can be confusing and contradictory, but just because it looks like a photo intended to publicise something/someone does not mean that it is a publicty photo in our sense. It is because of these misunderstandings that it is being proposed that {{promophoto}} be removed from the dropdown menu altogether.

The source for Image:Facade.jpg is not a press kit; it is an official fansite. It is also not a screenshot, so the tv-screenshot is inapplicable: according to the meta-data, it was photographed using a Canon EOS 10D. What's up with this? The copyright holder just wrote to us again and is increasingly upset that we haven't deleted the page. I reviewed it and it looks like a clear copyvio to me, and you've apparently removed the tag with no comment other than it is "incorrect," and delisted it from WP:CP. While the text may be salvagable if someone wants to rewrite it, it's clear that large swaths of text well over the usual limit of 10-15 words have been lifted from the original author's web site. Thanks for the note. I try to avoid deleting stuff that I list myself, even if it's an m:OTRS case, because of the value of another set of eyes. I did note that you've been clearing the backlog at WP:CV which is a worthy thing. The subject pages are gone now so the matter is settled for the time being. While I realize that there are a fair number of bogus listings at WP:CV, and that the project has grown large enough that it is difficult to look at a sig and remember who is and is not a responsible Wikipedian, it still remains customary in borderline cases to notify the lister if you're summarily unlisting a CV without deleting it. I'm not sure if your the right person to bring this to, but an article that you just deleted Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Post goth because of a concensus in its AfD has just been recreated by the same (or a sock) of the same person under the heading Post-goth. I'd also like to note that I suspect that User:67.190.163.11, User:Miamibreaksgirrl, User:Keodrah, and User:Darkmoth could be socks for the same person.
