Information icon Hello, I'm JavaHurricane. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Lineditor. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. JavaHurricane 14:52, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

After I left these messages, Lineditor sent me an email where they said that they are Rahul Singh. We welcome your contributions, but we would like to reiterate that you should not edit your own biography as it constitutes a conflict of interest and may cause neutrality issues. If you wish to have some edit made to your article, please use the {{Template:request edit}} template on the talk page. Additionally, Wikipedia is not a platform for advertisement of promotion.
I hope that you will understand why we have this policies, that you will comply with them, and wish you happy editing! Thank you! JavaHurricane 15:12, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to make a change, please use the article's talk page (and provide a reliable source). Please don't email me; that is not the venue to request edits. JavaHurricane 15:15, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Rahul Singh (cricketer, born 1995)

I'm not sure what you are doing with this article, but please stop linking to that website. It's obvious that you are connected to the subject in some way, and if you continue making non-constructive edits, you'll face being blocked from editing. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:14, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lugnuts, the editor is Singh himself. He wants some changes to his article. JavaHurricane 15:17, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
JavaHurricane - thanks. There's at least two other accounts that have made WP:COI changes to this article in the past 24hrs or so. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 15:19, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

i am sorry for coi, i had no idea about it. i am new to wikipedia. it wont happen again. i will go through proper channel to request edits in this page. thanks for informing me about coi.

No worries! We were all new at some point, and I too was then daunted by the intricate policies of Wikipedia. Please do remember to sign your messages on talk pages with four tildes (~) as follows: ~~~~.
I'd like to ask you one question: can you tell your relation with the accounts User:Grahulsingh99 and User:Amits3415? JavaHurricane 15:36, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Grhulingh99 is myself and amit3415 is my friend. we were talking about updating my wiki page as it wasnt updated in 8 months. i tried updting is without creating a wiki page and got a message that i am not allowed. then my friend came to know that we need to create a wiki account to edit it. he tested an edit later on. then he told it to me. i created an account on wiki to upadte my info of the page . i then started editing. but then it wont look good that the person himself is editing his page so i created another account. which is lineditor. i did all this not knowing the tems of wiki, but i can assure you all the edits that i did are legitimate. you can ask me to verify the authenticity of any edit these 3 accounts have madde. i apollogize again for the misconduct that happened due to lack of knowledge and i request you to please add an image of rahul singh with full name gahlaut rahul singh. i have links to articles if you need to verify the authencity of the image. and every data lineditor

Thank you for you reply. By signing I meant that you should sign with four tildes (~) like this:~~~~. Besides this, I would like to tell you that you can't use multiple accounts on Wikipedia except in certain conditions. Also you shouldn't ask your friends or family to edit for you. Which account would you like to use permanently?
Also, regarding your name on the article, I would request you to provide a reliable source about your name. Thank you. JavaHurricane 16:04, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Lineditor The lack of an image in this article is likely because there are no suitable images published under licenses compatible with Wikipedia. If you would like to provide an image you have taken yourself or otherwise own the rights to, you can provide one via the steps outlined here. You may also be interested in reading our FAQ page for article subjects. Best, — Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 16:39, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

after you verify please update this pic in my wiki page thanks Lineditor

Hi. Please do not post verification documents here, as this is a public page and there is a serious risk of identity theft and other potential issues. Administrator GeneralNotability has permanently hidden the link to the image on my request. Please do not re-add it. To verify your identity, please send an E-Mail to info-en@wikimedia.org and ask them for instructions on how to proceed. Thank you for understanding. Best, — Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 17:12, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice. Please update my name and pic in my wiki page. I have given you the link of the article and the image i would like to be uploaded. Thanks Lineditor (talk) 17:18, 27 August 2020 (UTC).[reply]

I have added the image to the article; your full name is already included on the page. Is there anything else you need help with? — Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 17:23, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your help. If it is not against wikipedia rules, could you name my wiki page with my full name that is Gahlaut Rahul Singh? And hyperlink my title Gahlaut Rahul Singh with this link to my website? Thank you Lineditor (talk) 23:30, 27 August 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Adding a hyperlink to an external website is not possible, since this is prohibited by a policy. I'm also not sure about the viability of renaming the page, since WP:COMMONNAME dictates that articles be named according to the name most commonly associated with the subject. Lugnuts, do you have any thoughts about a potential rename? Best — Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 09:53, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Blablubbs: The Commonname is per his Cricinfo profile, so simply "Rahul Singh" in this case. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 09:55, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @Lugnuts: Alright, thanks for the quick response! Lineditor, I'm afraid the page name will probably have to stay – at least for now. If you have any further requests for changes, it's probably best to make those at the article talk page. You can find a guide on filing edit requests here. Feel free to message me on my talk page if you have any questions or concerns. Best, — Blablubbs (talkcontribs) 10:12, 28 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Thanks for your help guys Lineditor (talk) 10:06, 28 August 2020 (UTC).[reply]

I have requested cricinfo to update my name as well. Once they implement the changes, i will request to add the change. Regards Lineditor (talk) 11:07, 28 August 2020 (UTC).[reply]
