About Gay Movies
[edit]Your best bet for making that type of template is to look at {{imdb title}} and {{imdb name}} to get an idea for the code you would need. Cbrown1023 00:25, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in Homosexuality. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. ¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:07, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- I just added the link to the About Gay Movies history pages because I thought it would add to the knowledge base on Wikipedia. On the Homosexuality page the history of homosexuality is mentioned and part of it is what's on film. Lordmarchmain 00:14, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Lordmarchmain, according to this version of your talk page other editors have addressed their concerns with your re-adding of this link. Please consider proposing to add the link on article talk pages due to many viewing it as spam, thank you.¤~Persian Poet Gal (talk) 00:15, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- I just added a request to the talkpage. Lordmarchmain 00:23, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Feadship
[edit]Tagged article for Neutral Point of View. This article is thoroughly a promotional piece in favor of Feadship - it includes many statements praising the company and it's founders, etc. This violates the Wikipedia policy of Neutral Point of View. 4.239.0.150 19:09, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, if you know it so well, I would like to see you (User:4.239.0.150|4.239.0.150) write a correct article on Feadship that would be approved by the Wikipedia elite. Lordmarchmain 19:40, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
- I am truly sorry if I have offended you - maybe I should have used gentler language in my original note. To me this seems like a very fine article as it stands, but just the words of praise give it a sense of being an advertisement, which is not a bad thing, but which is different from what you're looking for in an encyclopedia, which is expected to provide information but not to include the opinions of the writer. So, for example, if the founder of Feadship came up with a valuable, original idea, it would be better to refer to it as an "innovation" (which is factual) rather than a "stroke of genius" (which is a form of praise, therefor opinion). I think you have a much better chance than me of adjusting the article properly, since you seem to have a great deal of knowledge of this subject, whereas I do not. If you do choose to change it, I wish you every success. In any case, I would like to thank you for the valuable information you have provided! 4.239.0.252 04:26, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your constructive comment. And thank you very much for your compliment. Sometimes it feels like all the work I do is unappreciated here on Wikipedia. Maybe that was the root of my bit harsh responce. I have made several changes to the text (including your suggestion). I hope this will make this an article to stay here on Wikipedia, because in my opinion Feadship deserves a place here. If you agree with the changes can the flag be removed? Eric Verberne
[edit]Hi, Lordmarchmain! I've removed Eric Verberne from the List of LGBT people again, solely because it's a "list of famous people". Eric has a website, but doesn't have a Wikipedia article, so I don't think he qualifies. If and when Eric gets and article, then he can be added to the list. Thanks, and Happy Editing! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 14:12, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
About Gay Movies template wanted
[edit]On 2006-08-01 you edited Category talk:Film templates regarding a new template. If you still want one then please update this section (now on my watch list) and I will assist you. – Conrad T. Pino 09:03, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for your offer to help out with the About Gay Movies template. What I have in mind is something like the IMDb template. But I haven't got any clue on how to set up such a difficult thing on Wikipedia. Could you give any tips or guidance on how to do this? Thanks in advance. Lordmarchmain 23:49, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome and we're on the same page. My intent is to show you the process letting you decide who will do the work as we move forward step by step. Let's begin: Step 1, choosing a template name. You've pointed to the Internet Movie Database as an example which has {{imdb name}} and {{imdb title}} since that site has multiple services. I'm not familiar with About Gay Movies nor it's services which places the name selection burden on you but worry not as the name can be changed if the first proves unsuitable. Let me know once you've choose a name. – Conrad T. Pino 17:02, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Lordmarchmain. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Lordmarchmain~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
