Information icon Hello, I'm Ian.thomson. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Information icon Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to Japanese giant hornet. Your edits could be interpreted as vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Ian.thomson (talk) 23:12, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The source cited says 4 cm. If you have a different source, you need to raise the issue on the talk page. Ian.thomson (talk) 23:12, 29 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

K?

[edit]

There is actually a “citation needed” mark for those, instead of deleting anything that isnt yours. LucasIsNotAToy (talk) 00:40, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits first came to my attention when changed the lengths in Asian giant hornet to 5 mm beyond what the cited sources state. I then saw that you similarly increased the length of the Japanese giant hornet to 5 cm even though the source cited says 4 cm.
These edits to Polistes carnifex are the only ones where there's a citation needed tag. The rest of it is not material that I wrote. Given your propensity to contradicting already cited sources, it should be understandable why I reverted that edit as well.
Citation needed tags are an option for information that most people know is probably true but someone hasn't added a source for yet. Ian.thomson (talk) 01:17, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly wrong species

[edit]

Do you have the link to the source claiming the size of the giant hornet to be 1.6 inches? LucasIsNotAToy (talk) 01:25, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Giant Japanese Hornet, Vespa mandarinia japonica, "The adult can be more than 4 cm long with a wingspan of greater than 6 cm." Ian.thomson (talk) 01:31, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ye

[edit]

It states they grow larger than 4 cm. This means the page for the japanese giant hornet is fine, but for the asian giant hornet page it doesnt mention this. LucasIsNotAToy (talk) 01:35, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
