Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Issue15(janfeb).jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Will (Talk - contribs) 03:13, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Modified Luxury & Exotics Redux

[edit]

Before you start editing again, make sure that you've carefully read the Wikipedia's Policies and guidelines, expecially as they pertain to External links and Conflict of Interest.

Why did I delete the external links that you added to Wikipedia articles that were to Modified Luxury & Exotics magazine? Several times all they did was go to the main page for the magazine, and were not linked to a page directly related to the topic of the article. For other links, they went to rather chatty and uninformative pages. Remember, the Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and the links should present further information that would be of interest to the Wikipedia's general readers.

The other problem was the material that you were adding to the articles themselves. In most cases, they were really doing more to promote Modified Luxury & Exotics magazine than providing useful information on the topic of the article.

If you follow the Wikipedia's rules, you should have no further problems. On the other hand, if you continue with the same type of edits and external link additions that you were doing before, you will be blocked again, no matter what your user name is.

Since you have access to plenty of pictures on exotic and luxury cars, you might think about uploading some images to the Wikipedia. Make sure, however, that you carefully read the policies on Image use, and understand the implications of licensing the photos under a copyleft license so that the Wikipedia can use the images. Dear Editor/Moderator

[edit]

I understand that the links were in many ways promoting the magazine, however, considerng the magazine is in many ways a form of resource material for those interested in high-end modified cars (Gemballa, Fisker, Dinan, etc.) I felt that linking the pages together was a way of allowing those interested in a modified vehicle of one type to discover more about a modified vehicle of another. The interconectednes of the many tuners and the "scene" in general is why the magazine exists in the first place. I weighed carefully the possibility of being percieved as exploiting Wikipedia for the magazine's own use versus the advantages of providing information for interested parties. Apparently your view of the matter differs from my own and while I maintain that I had the best interests of the free flow of information as my motivation, I will submit to your decision.

Is it permisable to make the Modified Luxury & Exotics magazine page again? I will not link to other pages unless I have received confirmation that it is permisable.

As for photos, I will certainly upload some. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luxury&Exotics (talkcontribs)

I know absolutely nothing about your magazine. On the other hand, when I did a Google search, trying to filter out all the magazine subscription websites where your magazine is offered, I didn't find anything that would suggest that the magazine met the Wikipedia's notability guidelines. (A more specific notablility guideline that might apply to your magazine would be Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations).)
I would suggest that you might bring up the issue at the Automobile WikiProject by leaving a message on their talk page, Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Automobiles, and asking their opinion.
Also, keep in mind that your editing activity on the Wikipedia should also be done according to the guidlines at Conflict of interest, and Wikipedia:Autobiography. BlankVerse 07:04, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
