Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Maine East Alumni Assn", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because usernames which imply the account represents a particular organization or group, etc. are not allowed per WP:ORGNAME. Conflict of interest editing

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Maine East Alumni Assn. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Maine East High School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies.

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:42, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Revert on Maine East High School

[edit]

Well, seems very strange. Our user name is not in policy? We have had that for many years, rather than just using an anonymous IP, which in my opinion should not be allowed.... IE: several years ago someone posted a totally inappropriate paragraph on the MEHS site (you know high school kids) , just the posters IP address was available and that could not be obtained thru WHOIS . I did remove the paragraph, no one else caught it. I did notify the school..

Conflict of Interest? Who better to submit information on alumni? We have written many of the paragraphs for this page. The school also submits their info....

We have submitted many names in the list, never in the past has anyone said anything about it.

Verification: You say he's not an actor yet he is listed in IMDB as an actor. TV show and Movie. He was a well known teacher of theater.... Sounds arty to me. By your standards many of those already listed don't qualify to be listed.

If need be, go over the list and remove anyone else posted by us in violation of the rules....

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 07:17, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
