License tagging for Image:Dilanni2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dilanni2.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 04:07, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

bobmorrow.jpg

[edit]

Hello,

You deleted bobmorrow.jpg which was being used on the article for the former mayor of hamilton. This was probably because I did not upload it correctly. I have since contacted the city and they have told me through the Mayor's office that I may use any picture of the former Mayors on wikipedia. How do I upload and tag these correctly? If you would like me to forward you the email from City Hall I can do that as well.

Thanks.

Howard Rabb

Since you now have uploaded the images to commons, you can forward the e-mail that releases the images into a free license to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Remember that it is not a free license if the mail only states that the images can be used at wikipedia. Rettetast 06:33, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of a valid reference from an article.

[edit]

I undid your edit: diff. You had removed a reference to a newspaper article, the weblink may have been unavailable, but the reference to the published paper is correct. Please be careful when removing references from articles. Alan.ca 11:57, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi, I nominated File:MayorWade.jpg and File:Dilanni2.jpg for deletion for lacking evidence of permission. Regards Hekerui (talk) 19:33, 14 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the city emailed Wikipedia then no evidence of this survives that I can see. This evidence is provided in form of an email from the copyright owner which is sent or forwarded to permissions-en@wikimedia.org as described on the image pages. To provide evidence of permission you need to ask the city whether the copyright holders allow the images released under a free license (the main Wikipedia license now is the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License). For this, Wikipedia:Example requests for permission can serve as inspiration. When you have confirmation that permission was sent you can add {{OTRS pending}} to the pages. OTRS is the ticket system for emails addressed at Wikipedia. Lastly, images on Wikipedia are almost never really deleted, only hidden from the view of users other than administrators. If permission is achieved, they will be restored if they were deleted. You can also leave a comment for the reviewing administrator on the file talk page to notify him/her of your efforts to get permission. Best wishes Hekerui (talk) 10:57, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Come on over Album Cover.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Come on over Album Cover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:00, 10 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
