Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Thank you.--John (talk) 22:09, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Hi MarkUTR. Your edit has been reverted (by another editor, not by me). It's actually incorrect: see the "Etymology" section for details. "Republic of Ireland" is a description, not a name, and is used to disambiguate the state from the island only when necessary (Wikipedia uses the same approach: that's why the article called "Republic of Ireland", to disambiguate it from the article about the island). [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Eamonn Holmes, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
