Conflicts of interest in Wikipedia
[edit]Hi Marlax22. I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia. Every one of your edits to date has been about Bernardo Florencio Javalquinto-Lagos. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.
Hello, Marlax22. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article Bernardo Florencio Javalquinto-Lagos, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
- instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.
Comments and requests
[edit]Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).
Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by our WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with Bernardo Florencio Javalquinto-Lagos or his corporations and institutions, or affiliates? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. Please reply here - I am watching this page. Thanks! — Brianhe (talk) 02:43, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Hello Brianhe . I do not keep connection with Bernardo Florencio Javalquinto - Lagos or affiliates. For academic task , I had to create the article . I apologize for the inconvenience. I will report the situation to my advisor, to avoid future issues. I had no knowledge about conflict of interest policies. Again an apology, it is not my native language, I do not speak English very well.Marlax22 (talk) 03:32, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
- Okay thanks, this isn't necessarily a problem. I've asked other people at WP:ENI to have a look and lend you a hand understanding how to be a great contributor. There is a formal process for involvement of educational institutions, which you probably weren't aware of. By the way you didn't mention which institution, if you don't mind telling, is it in Latin America? - Brianhe (talk) 03:43, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Hello Briahne. Indeed, I am a student in Latin America , UNAM student in social and economic sciences. I have noticed some corrections in this article , so I wish to learn the right way to edit an article in Wikipedia .Marlax22 (talk) 02:02, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Newcomers
[edit]Marla, you said at the deletion debate you felt we were being unfair to newcomers. Please don't take the debate personally: it is about the content of the article not about you. Deletion is a normal process here; look at my articles and all the red links indicating it has happened to me, too.
Furthermore you can request a WP:REFUND of a deleted article to allow you to keep working on it when you understand our notability requirements better. I hope I have treated you fairly and cordially but if I have not please let me know what I could have done better. I'll repeat, I hope you stay with us and learn how to be a great contributor. - Brianhe (talk) 05:22, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
Brianhe , I can understand why the article will removed. What I can not understand, is why the community is concentrated primarily on DELETE. I expected some help from an editor to correct problems, but I guess that will not work that way. I will leave this article. I would appreciate your comments , but they have not helped me so far .Marlax22 (talk) 03:09, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
