Martin Kirilov Grigorov (born June 7th, 1992) is a Bulgarian screenwriter, awarded twice at international film festivals in Cannes and in Sydney, Australia.
He is the author of the script "The Third Republic" which has been nominated for Best Feature Screenplay at the 2020 European International Film Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. The script tackles the threat of a neo-fascist regime in Bulgaria in the period of 2030-2050. The script's protagonist Konstantin Iliev Feodosiev is believed to be partially inspired by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.
Grigorov's other two awarded scripts, "In the Shadow of Lenin" and "Undercurrent", are a depiction of the complicated relationships between leading Soviet figures like Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin, while the second script is a literal retelling of the court case against Australian citizen Jock Palfreeman who was convicted to 20 years in a Bulgarian prison for murder in 2009.
Grigorov won for Best Historical Drama in 2017 in Cannes and Second Prize in Sydney in 2020.
He lives in Sofia.
