DJ Jeri active again[edit]

You forgot the password for DJ Jeri? So how come DJ Jeri made this edit over a month after you forgot the password? Please remember WP:SOCK. —Vanderdeckenξφ 10:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Yea, I was just kidding. I use this acc then that, this, that and so on. Problem? I edit on WP only when I find some mistake, error, etc. and I don't really care what account am I using. A'ight? • Matěj Grabovský (talk) 14:05, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Just make sure you make it clear that both accounts are you, both are active and that you know and abide by WP:SOCK, or somebody may not be so trusting as me and assume bad faith in future. —Vanderdeckenξφ 17:59, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Matej any specific reason to remove "How to install dig in windows" on the wiki dig page?? talk —Preceding undated comment added 05:28, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Yes, there is a reason and I quoted it in the edit summary: Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, textbook, or scientific journal. —Matěj Grabovský (talk) 08:48, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hello sir,[edit]

Some while ago I edited the Wikipedia article of "Narcos", removing the statement about the character of Horacio Carrillo being based on Colonel Hugo Martinez, because during season 2 of the show the character of Colonel Hugo Martinez is being portrayed by another actor. As you can see in the following link, the IMDB page of the cast, Colonel Hugo Martinez is portrayed by Juan Pablo Shuk while Horacio Carrillo is a different person who is portrayed by another actor.

Regards, Daniel — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 20:07, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I know, but the problem here is manifold. Firstly, the statement that the character is based on a real-life person is properly sourced and relevant, so I don't think it's justified to remove it for now. Secondly, there's the problem of the correspondence between fiction and reality. In the show, Horacio Carrillo is the commander of the Search Bloc, while Hugo Martinez is his successor after he's killed. In reality Hugo Martinez was the original (and to my knowledge only) commander of the Search Bloc.
If you have any reliable sources contradicting these claims, feel free to remove the statement with proper references in the edit summary or on the talk page. You can also open a new topic on the article's talk page if you think this deserves more attention. I'm not personally invested into this and my knowledge of the facts regarding the real background of the show is poor, so I won't fight properly sourced changes. —Matěj Grabovský (talk) 20:45, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

You see, in my opinion it is inevitable to presume that Horacio Carrillo is not based on Colonel Hugo Martinez, please follow me as I elaborate: During season 1, while Horacio Carrillo is the commander of the Search Bloc, a viewer could not know whether or not Horacio Carrillo is going to die in season 2, therefor it made sense to assume his character is based on Colonel Hugo Martinez, the one and only commander of the Search bloc. However, only after season 2 was released and the death of Carillo came to light, a viewer could understand that the his character was actually not based on Martinez because an actual Colonel Hugo Martinez joins the show as the commander of the Search bloc. The sources provided in the article are irrelevant because the writer of the article on The Telegraph could not possibly know about the upcoming death of Carillo while watching season 1 just like you, me, or any other viewer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by (talk) 18:41, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

You're still assuming that the fictional Martinez corresponds to the real one more than the fictional Carrillo, while that is clearly not the case, as the real Hugo Martinez was the original leader of the Search Bloc, while in the series it was Carrillo. One way or another, I would classify your speculations as original research, which we try to avoid on Wikipedia. —Matěj Grabovský (talk) 19:09, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
